Happy 4th of July weekend/Canada Day weekend!
We'll start with Lucy this time. Lucy had a birthday this month! She is now 9 years old. Apparently 9 year olds are much more cuddly than 8 year olds, and I have been enjoying that. Lucy is one of those cats that is over-the-top in everything she does, so when she decides to cuddle it involves really burrowing into the lap, digging and kneading hard (claws out - ouch! - but I'll take the pain because she is so cute when she does that), and loud, loud purring. She loves, loves, loves to be petted. I'm always a little worried to test her, especially because high carb food has been flowing pretty abundantly around here lately (see Jazzy's paragraph below), but I poked her a couple of nights ago and she was 65. 17 months on insulin, 28 months off insulin. Go Lucy!
Jazzy is keeping me on my toes. In the last month her dose has dropped from 13u to 8u. We even gave 7.5 a little try, but she didn't like that dose so 8 units it is, for now. She has been holding onto blue with a little green, except when I make a mistake and then she sometimes edges into yellow. The litter box is so much easier to keep up with (have any other acro moms noticed that the quantity of pee is huge even when they are in numbers that should be under renal threshhold?). She seems comfortable in these numbers, and is very purry. For a cat who has always been a grouch, I'm pretty pleased with that!
