Just wanted to give an update on Brownie. He is doing pretty well for an old guy with pancreatitis and liver cancer! His pain level is way down from last weekend, although we still have him on Bupe 2/day. I finally spoke to the attending vet who performed his abdominal ultrasound and got some interesting news. He said that during the ultrasound, Brownie was not tender around his liver, but very tender around his pancreas. He believes that his pain is all pancreatitis at this point and that the liver cancer was an incidental finding. For cats that come in with inappetance or vomiting and are diagnosed with liver cancer, they only have a few weeks left. However, Brownie presented with pancreatitis and the liver tumor was found incidentally. He cannot say how long he has to live (the cancer could be slowly smoldering or explosively growing), but he felt that if is gets over the pancreatitis, he may have a few months. Or more. Or less. Whatever the case, I was so glad to hear that as I was worried that I was giving him Bupe for cancer pain as opposed to pancreatitis pain (which will hopefully resolve soon). He looks better every day and he finally pooped today (after 7 days), so we avoided an enema at the vet today - hurrah! I'm giving him 150cc squids/day, but will drop that to 150cc/every other day after a few more days. Thank you all for your support and concern - it got me through some very rough days and I know I can count on your support again when I need it. Happy Caturday, LL! :-D

I'm glad to see a Brownie update. I'm sorry that they found the liver cancer, but I am so happy that he is starting to feel better, and that you will have more (hopefully a lot more) quality time with him.

I'm so happy to read that Brownie is still hanging in there. Sorry about the cancer, of course, but it sounds hopeful that he might not be ready to quit just yet. Give him a cuddle for me.

Please give Brownie a snuggle from me, too. I'm glad to hear the he is feeling more comfortable.

aw, i love seeing that brownie is nearly 20! that is amazing! a real testament to your love and care - he must be a very special kitter!

I'm so happy to read this update. I hope his pancreatitis resolves soon and he has some great days in the future. Sorry I missed your post yesterday.
