Good morning, LL! TGIF!
Sending healing vines to Jupe, KT, and ((Kathie)).
Ripley is doing great today.
She's slurping her breffis, and already did a PDLB (Public Display of Litter Boxing ~ #1 and #2 as I was cleaning out the box. Good job, Ripley.).
As a matter of fact, she is acting very Ripley: I have today off (more on that later), so I adjusted her shot time so I could 'sleep in' a few minutes later. Unfortunately, her clock is still going strong, and she woke me up at her usual T/S/F time.(Good girl, Ripley, for having an accurate sense of time and for knowing your schedule.) First, I felt something breathing on my face; I opened my eyes and saw her staring back at me with those huge round eyes, about 2 inches from mine. Close-Range Telepathy. Once she saw my eyes open (and then quickly close, as I was hoping she didn't notice), she proceeded to tap my face with her paw; first my eyelid, then my chin, then my nose, interspersed with little tiny half-squawks (Wake up, mommy, we're late for my fuds.). I rolled over, away from her, and she then laid her body across my neck. Suffocation technique. I moved her off of me, then she started headbutting me. (She isn't a gentle, subtle headbutter; she puts her whole body into it, rather clumsily.) So I decided to lie there and wait for my phone alarm to tell me it was time to get out of bed (yes, I was milking my extra 30 minutes!); as I checked my phone for the time, Ripley started to chew on the corner of it. Gnawing On Valuables Maneuver. (Glad to see your chewing reflex is still working ~ but not the iphone, please. Isn't there some paper somewhere calling your name? Or WITH your name ON it? see yesterday's pic...) Meanwhile, starting with the earlier "wake-up" squawks, Marley the drooler and Smokey the civvie heard those sounds and knew their feeding time was imminent ~ so meows and paces galore began. (DH put in his earplugs at this point. Smart man.) Oh, and I forgot about the Log Roll Maneuver ~ at some point, Ripley sat on my chest. I took a deep breath, and threw off her already-poor sense of balance, and she rolled off of me ~ full-on 360 onto the bed, all 4 legs sticking out, no grace whatsoever. It probably didn't feel too good on her little old body, but it didn't stop her from moving on to the next wake-up tactic. Persistence. Sweet, cute persistence.
Silly girl.
OT: My DH and I have today and Monday off work (4-day weekend! woo hoo!). Sunday is our Very First wedding anniversary, so we are celebrating with a mini-staycation. Not sure what our plans are yet; maybe a movie, eating out, maybe the state fair... I'm really hoping we can go out for breakfast at this yummy place that's only open M-F... we'll see...
