Re: 7/19 Lucian AMPS 280
Well, for Wake Forest, it is currently 81 with 81% humidity, feels like 87. High today of 90, which is less than it's been all week. Just a typical July day in Wake Forest, NC! Actually, it's less than typical. Usually by mid July, thru August, we are high 90's-low 100's and humid.
I feel for anyone that has to work in this, like my son does. But he's not stupid and consumes gallons of water a day and a small bottle of Gatorade for electrolytes. Plus, people that work outside, have been outside the entire time and have adjusted as the temps become higher, as summer progresses, so it doesn't have the effect that it has on us that aren't in it but a limited amount of time. He says it's really not a problem until it hits 100. You just have to stay hydrated and pay attention to heat stroke symptoms. The vast majority of outside workers, i.e. construction, know how to keep themselves safe. It's the rest of us that act stupid when it's this hot.

We just aren't used to it.
As for me, I don't go outside in severe heat unless I have to and then it's only to and from the truck. One of the things my Dr told me when I was diagnosed with Graves, was to NOT be out if it's higher than 80 and then only to the car, etc, because of severe temp sensitivity. Since Graves also causes an electrolyte imbalance, I drink 8 oz (+-) Gatorade a day, all year. If I miss it a few days, it causes me to feel even more exhausted than usual. Of course I carry a bottle of water with me everywhere!
My mother, the proverbial morning person, does her errands at 7 AM, before it gets too hot. Me, NOT being one of those people, try to get out before noon. Which I am working on today. Got to run to Walmart, need cat food, more strips (just opened the last one this morning) and a few groceries. Last time I went, I spent $96 and realized that only $35 was food and household stuff, the rest was for the cats and Lucian's medical supplies.

Of course, I get some help from the local food bank, once a month, grocery stuff, so that helps.
OK, I'm ready to get out of here and it's only 10:15!!

I did good! Will test Lucian before I go, of course.
Everyone stay cool and keep lots of water at hand. :YMHUG:
Edit: Changed my mind about testing Lucian. He's stretched out in the only sunny spot in the living room and looks too peaceful to disturb. With his numbers, I'm sure he's fine, let the poor guy enjoy his sunshine.

I won't be gone that long anyway.
