AMPS 256
+2 140 fed 3rd installment of breakfast, LC
+4 67 fed 1 teasp. LC
+5.5 23(!!!) fed some Merrick 12% (about 2 teasp.)
almost +6 75 fed 1 teasp. LC (regular lunch food and will retest in 1 hour)
almost +7 (+6.75) 94. I guess we're OK (I might have shortened his surf)
+10.25 159
PMPS 192 shot 1.25 units (couldn't tell whether it was "fat" or "regular", but it was less than 1.50

Good Sunday Morning Everyone,

Our thoughts are with Carolyn this morning as we remember Latte, that wonderful, brave, intrepid kitty who has touched our hearts. Fly free, sweet Latte!

Stu is having good numbers again this morning, although the drop is a bit more than I am comfortable with. We'll be watching him. I think I will go back down to a "regular" 1.5 units (rather than a fat) starting tonight or tomorrow, because beginning on Tuesday morning and until noon on Saturday we will not be around to watch Stu during the crucial first half of the cycle. Any opinion on this?

Mr. Cat has been outside exploring the back yard, has eaten 2 installments of breakfast, visited the litterbox, had a good play with Emilie Mouse (she was next to his food dish this morning) and at the moment is sitting on his paperbag watching the Tour. Later this morning we'll take a little walk and this afternoon a little paddle to get my sister's paddling muscles tuned up for Canoe Outing, which begins tomorrow afternoon with registration. Hi Ella - I think if it were me, and I had a week of not being able to monitor throughout the day, I'd drop the "fat" on the dose too. You could try it for today and tomorrow, see how it goes... then you'd know if it was a good idea. Nice drop this morning for Stu - wow - looks like maybe you will have a busy day today...

Enjoy your paddle today - and the tour! Getting exciting now - the Pyrenees!

That's a pretty big drop there! Maybe you should try hang gliding instead of the bungee thing!I have an idea! I'll sneek over and we can get in your momma bean's back pack so we can go along on the canoe trip. Can you say "surf the rapids"?

I think I'll do more than a shave! 23 at +5.5!!! Fed him some 12% and will retest in 15 minutes. Getting the HC ready if he doesn't come up on the 12%.

I fed about 2 teaspoons of 12% Merrick after the bg 23 and he came up to 75 by almost +6. Fed him his normal "lunch" LC (about a teasp.) and will check again before +7. Stu seems completely normal. No hypo symptoms. I'm glad this happened today and not tomorrow. I think I might go down to a fat 1.25 tonight (rather than a "regular 1.5). I can't take a chance with the full week of "vacation" ahead!!!! Advice would be welcome.

BIG TIME! whoa - good luck with the dose decision... I'd be leaning towards the below 40 thing that is an auto reduction. ?? Know I'd be really concerned about next week, and probably go on the side of caution. better safe than sorry?

So we're at 94 at almost +7 (I probably shortened his surf, but did stop his dive!!). The 3 beans are going out for a few hours. Will decide what to do about the dose later, but I think it will be a fat 1.25 (if I can measure that!!).

Hey, nice catch today. Surfing is cool, diving the deeps not so cool (at least for cats). Good luck with the dosecrease.

Hi again, I'm inclined to take a dose reduction to a fat 1.25 (down from a fat 1.50). The expected bounce has started, but I think I'll take the reduction tonight, rather than tomorrow morning. Advice and opinion are welcome!!!
Back later to visit some more condos. Today has been pretty hectic, with Stu's 23 and my sister's visit.

I'm a little late to offer an opinion perhaps, but blue and low yellow are not high bounces IMO... specially given the 23, and because of the shed! If this was Tizon, i don't know that I would shoot thru the rebound unless he was mid-pinks... but you know Stu better than anyone else....

And because of the 23, I'm of the opinion that Stu should get a dosecrease of 0.25U (so from fat 1.5 to fat 0.25)... talk about a Stu the diver.... !

Of course.... others with more experience may offer other suggestions.

Stu, my friend.... leave the 2nd basement to the works people who repair the water and the sewer mains... no need to go there.

I agree with Helene - decrease by 0.25u.

I'd also think about trying to slow those big drops down when they occur. The drop of 100 points by +2 was a lot. It's a time when feeding the curve is important to offset this kind of plummet (i.e., over 200 points from pre-shot) and hopefully, reduce the chance of a big bounce.

wow Stu, that's a little extreme!

I agree with the 0.25 decrease, especially because you won't be able to spot check as much this week. You want to be able to enjoy your vacation.

I think the minus the fat was a good choice. You've been doing this for long enough to know there's always time to make adjustments when needed!

Stu earns the LL award for most dramatic drop!

Thank you all so much, for the much appreciated advice. I shot 1.25 this evening, but I can't say if it was a "fat" 1.25 or a "regular". Whatever, it was certainly less than the "fat" 1.50 I had been shooting.
Sienne, I do try to control the steep drops by feeding. Stu gets his breakfast in 3 or 4 installments every day, an hour apart. Some days it works, some days it doesn't. This week I'm going to have to give the 5-compartment Petsafe automat another try to see if it will work well enough to dispense the 4 breakfast installments. Tomorrow morning we'll be home until noon, so I'll give it an audition.

Good luck with the auto feeder Ella. I hope it works for you. I have that one, and have never had a problem with it. The compartments are a bit deep, but that never seems to stop Mannie. :-D

Good choice on the dose I think, IMHO. Go STU!
