Hi there-
I was just looking at tomorrow's appointments and realize that I have to be out of the house at 7:30 tomorrow morning. That's a whole hour early for shot time (she usually gets her shot at 8:30). I know that since Lantus is cumulative, adjusting the shot time affects the dosage. She seems to be coasting in the mid to high blues (with a couple of yellows), so it seems like a safe bet to stick with her current dosage (.5u) and shoot early. I wanted to move the shot time 30 minutes tonight, but just realized I'm too late, so 15 minutes will have to do. (I missed my window while I was typing this email!) Tomorrow will be a different story though.....I've still got 45 minutes to deal with!!
This is where my work schedule gets in the way with keeping a strict shot schedule. In a previous post I mentioned that I'm not always going to be able to stick to 12 hours on the dot. For example, I have to leave at 7:30am tomorrow morning and my last meeting ends at 7:00pm. I won't likely get home until 7:45 or 8pm, which means tomorrow night's shot will be late. These long days are sporadic during the summer, but once we head into fall and my schedule ramps up again, it could be happening several times a week.
Any thoughts on how to handle these situations would be appreciated. I would love to have a rule of thumb to follow when this comes up, as it will be an issue very soon. Thanks a ton!!
