Ok, well I just dont know
I smelled him all over last night so I was sure there was no fur shot

so....could he have so low yesterday that this was a bounce?
or did I fur shot and not smell it?
dont know but we shall see how today goes

Hi Denise! Good to see your new condo. I'm sorry about the not-so-great AMPS... As for your queries: I think an undetected furshot is quite unlikely (if not impossible). I trust that you would have smelled/felt something if it had been one. I looked over his SS and he does seem to have gone unexpectedly low here and there - so I think it's possible that he dropped a bit mid-cycle, before he showed you that 173. He doesn't seem to be terribly predictable in terms of BGs just yet, so, yes, definitely possible.

I know it's frustrating to be thrown for a loop like this! If you can, try not to get too hung up on this number. He may yet give you a good cycle, after all. And overall, it's only been about 2 months since his switch to Lev, according to your SS - and he's shown some surprising cycles, the way I see it, in his overall history (I'm thinking, in recent history, cycles like the 21st of April, or the 16th of June). It's a bit tricky, at this relatively early stage on a new insulin, to pin down reasons for each time he doesn't do what we thought he would, or each time we can't quite put our finger on a reason. We're here with you. Go ahead and vent a bit, if you like, ok? We can take it :mrgreen:

Morning Denise - Sorry for the amps, and that high number. I too suspect a bounce from lower numbers yesterday. I hope he will clear it quickly. Nice and slow Shakes - no diving now, 'K?

YUK, indeed! Sorry, Denise. I'm with you on the confusion about why they do, what they do, when they do it. I think we're all with you on that one!

I agree it was probably not a fur shot. There have been times I suspected I had given Hershey a fur shot and felt nothing, but never a time I didn't SMELL a fur shot. Quite the distinctive smell. So, most likely a bounce that will hopefully clear soon!

I know it's hard not to focus on the one number, but the day is young! Hope y'all have a wonderful day -

Yuk is right! I'm with the others. Looks like a bounce. Hang in there. You are doing great. It's just one number in a sea of thousands.

Thanks everyone for the pep talk, I know I have to stop basing my moods
on Shakes numbers, but it is so hard to see him so high and not feeling good
I had found Shakes when he was only a couple of days old..eyes still closed
bottle fed him for 6 weeks....I never had children so he is my "baby"
and it pains me so much to see him like this
anyway...sorry,
his PMPS was 203......it seems like he is just up and down,
which could also be my fault as I should have held at 2.25 and not up him to 2.5
as fast as I did
Do you think I should maybe go down to 2.25 and see how he does
I do have a feelin that he might be going low during the day

Oh my, what a story Shakes has! How amazing. He really is your baby :-) Same with Karre (and his two litter mates, Beni and Lucci - inly Lucci grew up with Karre though because sadly Beni went missing). Jack found the three kittens when they were ten days old - they even share his birthday! They were also bottle-fed. I wish I could have been there! But I only became Karre's minion much later, when he was already a fully-fledged Emperor.

It's easier said than done, isn't it, the not-basing-moods-on-BGs... Even I do it, and we really are crazy spoiled when it comes to those coloured numbers that make the sugar world go round. We so sympathize with you on feeling awful when our darling creatures are in rather more dire staits than we'd like. Just think how much worse it'd be for him if he didn't have you, though, who loves him so much and who takes care of him and is tryin to hard to get him better! You're really doing so well!
