My poor girl just can't seem to get off this roller coaster ride 😔
I'm going to try feeding tonight at PS, +0.5 (LC w/Honey), +1 (LC w/Honey), +2 (LC w/Honey), and +3. I'm going to have to buy a 2nd auto feeder with all these extra meals.
I can handle the testing, but feeding the curve is EXHUASTING! It just makes me feel dumb and like I can't figure anything out.

Sorry.. I guess I'm just having a emotional day.. I'll be ok tho, just got to keep trucking along..
Hope everyone has a good day and all the kitties stay safe.

Honestly, I’d stay away from the honey unless she’s really low (40s) and you need to get her up quickly.

Are you still feeding 3-4% for LC? Many years ago, members noted their cats did better on 10% calories from carbs. When we started, I went for the lowest carbs I could find but that didn’t help. The Moderator at that time, Jill, told me to increase the carbs to as much as 10%. We found 6-8% worked best but ECID.

The other thing that could help is feeding more of the 6-10% range at a feeding. So instead of five feedings, divide it into four feedings (PS, +1, +2, +3). When I was using Lantus, I gave a larger portion at PS and +1 and then smaller at +2 and +3.

Those dives at onset can be so frustrating!! I sure hope you can find the solution to flattening things out so that she's not dropping so drastically. She doesn't always do the drop, but she does it often enough, doesn't she? I hope the feeding at the beginning of the cycle will do the trick. 🤞 🤞 You're doing a great job with her, Sara, even if it sometimes seems like a roller coaster. She's so fortunate to have someone caring so much.

Khloe reminds me so much of one of my civvies, Hazel. I have a soft spot for calicos.

Hi Sara, you are doing a tremendous job at keeping Khloe safe. :bighug: She is so lucky to have a dedicated and loving CG.

I went through very similar struggles with feeding as Trixie came down the dosing ladder. If you look at her 2025 SS you will see that in Aug/Sept I had to switch her meals to higher LC to keep her flat. It was a lot of experimenting to see what worked. I started mixing LC foods together to get a higher LC and I also added snacks early in her cycle since she had an early nadir, sometimes feeding her every hour between +1 and +4. They were very small snacks, about a teaspoon at a time. Once she started to hit limes more often, and give me lower Pres-hots, I increased her carbs even more (the food she was on when she went into remission was just under 10%), she was one of those cats that did better with a higher LC to keep her cycles smooth. The other sign that her pancreas was starting to do some of it's own work was that the usual LC that would normally boost her no longer did and I needed to use a 23% carb food to bring her up. The only time I ever used honey was when she was in the 30's and I needed to get her up quick!

Hope she smooths out for you so you can get some rest.

I’m sorry you are having a bit of a tough go :bighug:. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with feeling exasperated sometimes. Way back when, I had a few moments, usually when I thought for sure I had figured Maverick’s patterns on Lantus and he’d throw me a curve ball. Then of course I started the learning curve all over again when I switched to Levemir.

I see that you’ve changed what was your previous snack schedule, good job trying to line up some snacks a little earlier than +3. I’m in the same camp as Marje, I wouldn’t put honey in the mix unless facing a really low BG or if HC didn’t do the trick immediately. Feeding higher LC may very well be a great option for Khloe. Remember you can do a little blend of your LC with MC to get your higher LC. Feel free to vent any time, and most of all cut yourself a little slack, hon. Take a look back over the past month alone at how much progress you and Khloe have made.

And also remember that they are more than just their numbers, hopefully she is feeling pretty good these days.
