Good morning everyone,
Ella is in extra good spirits today cause it's her BIRTHDAY!!! Well, it's an estimate as she is a rescue but we always celebrate on this day
Ella's story:
On December 24th 2003, I was asked by a very good friend in rescue if I could temp foster a mom and her son who were slated to be euthanized at a high kill shelter. They were found in an abandoned apt building and were left behind by their people when they moved. I immediately agreed and she arranged to deliver Ella and her 8 week old kitten to my apt. About three days after arrival Ella and Monty became very ill with a URI. I had to pill and force feed them for about 2 weeks and at one point I didn't think little Monty would make it but he did! During this time a deep bond developed between us but I didn't want to get too attached as I knew it was a temporary placement until the organization could find them a furever home. A few weeks later Monty was adopted and I cried like a baby for days  I missed him so much and felt so bad that Ella had lost her lil baby but after a day she stopped looking for him and I think she was kind of relieved that he was gone :? Once Monty was out of the picture, Ella really kicked it up a notch and showed her true colours. She was an amazing acrobat and used the furniture in the apt as her own Parkour course; jumping and flipping from chair to table to couch. It was really amazing to see! She was incredibly entertaining and really sweet; rolling over for belly rubs every chance she could get. I took her to a few adoptathons in the hopes that someone might think she was as pretty and cool as I did and she got some interest but she always ended up coming home with me at the end of the day. One day the co-ordinator phoned to tell me where to drop her off for the next adoptathon and I packed her up in her cage, took her down to my car but I couldn't drive away. I realized that I was in love with her and that she was meant to live with me. I happily declared her as my first foster failure and 8 years after that day, we've been living as happily as can be
Happy Birthday to my sweet baby girl! May you have a wonderful year filled with good health and fantastic adventures with your new pals on FDMB
