Good Morning, Everyone,

The Lagoon Master is back in the lagoon!! Yay! It only took 2 cycles to recover from the planned "fur shot". It cooled off a bit last night (it always does in the mountains) and Rusty had a good night, good test, breakfast (Wellness Turkey), good shot, good nap in his little bed in progress.
I saw no activity at the hornet/wasp nest this morning. We will wait until this evening to remove it and throw it in the woods. This is the cellar-window well where Rusty caught the mouse, so of course he keeps wanting to return to it. We will have to scrub it down to remove any residue of the pesticide before he is allowed in that area again.

One more reunion event to attend this afternoon (a tour of the Béla Bartók cabin, here in Saranac Lake--an add-on for people driving home today. Amazingly, we live very close to the Bartok cabin and have never been on the tour of it!!!! It's going to be another very hot day. I'm glad I don't have to drive anywhere in my car with the broken a/c!!

Wishing you all a good day. Sending hugs and sympathy to Lyresa, whose dog Lacey is at the Bridge. Sending good-travel vines to Leo and Grayson, as they journey to Colorado for their treatment.

Ella & Rusty

Thanks to everyone who visited this weekend while I was at my reunion.

Re: 7/15 Rusty AMPS 81

Wohoo for being back in the lagoon Rusty! You can keep Ella company there. I'm sure you'll get up to some sort of silliness together :-D

Hope your last day with your old classmates is a blast Ella!

Re: 7/15 Rusty AMPS 81

WOO HOO! The lagoon master is back in residence.   Way to go Rusty! I sure do love that amps.

Enjoy the cabin tour today. Isn't funny how one can live so close to something like that and never have visited it? it is the same with me. There are a few things here too like that, and yet I have never been.

Good luck with the hornet/wasp nest removal. Be careful! I am sure you will be glad to be rid of it. I hope it ins't a large one.... once when we did a remodel upstairs and took off some sheet rock we found a bee's nest (no clue which kind) in between two 2X4's. Damn thing was 2 feet long...no occupants, but I can't think and wonder: it must have been one heckuva a colony...

Have a great day today - and Rusty: surf well! What a great amps!!

Re: 7/15 Rusty AMPS 81

Enjoy the last of your reunion activities. I hope Rusty and DH are enjoying their time together. Apparently, from Rusty's numbers, he's having a wonderful time.

Re: 7/15 Rusty AMPS 81

Wow, Rusty!! Sometimes I think a fur shot is a little shock to their system that wakes up the pancreas - that's my own opinion and is not based on any research (so don't try this strategy!).  Have fun on the tour. We've never been to Lowell Observatory here in Flagstaff (where the ex-planet Pluto was discovered).

Re: 7/15 Rusty AMPS 81

   on the hornet/wasp nest! No wonder Rusty has been so interested in that area. I recently had a crack in my foundation repaired. When the repair guy tapped his hammer on a patch I have on the inside wall, the wall suddenly came alive with humming sounds! We ended up chipping a small hole in the wall, and nuking the thing. We had a few bees escape into the basement, and the rest found an outside exit. nailbite_smile

     The Lagoon master knows how to get things straightened out! Have fun on the Bartok tour. Amazing how we never do things that are close, we've lived here 15 years and haven't gone to Hearst Castle!

Good luck w/ the wasp nest. Those guys are mean!

Hi Ella, that sounds like a great reunion weekend of festivities. Rusty sure did a nice recovery. I hope the hornet gets caught, yikes! Thanks for visiting us and for the info on the meters and where to buy strips. Rusty, have a nice surf tonight.

Re: 7/15 Rusty AMPS 81, +5.5 75, +9 91, PMPS 143

Hi again,
It looks like Rusty is having a "correction" at PMPS, perhaps re-tooling his shed. Anyway, he had a good day, even in the awful heat. He is enjoying his new food, Wellness Chicken, and gets it at one of his meals every day now.

We went to tour the Bartók cabin in a thunderstorm and downpour. This rain is much needed, so we didn't mind that we got wet. The very rustic cabin--4 small rooms--is being restored by the local historical society (it had been slated to be torn down about 10 years ago). Bartók spent the summer of 1945 there. He was ill with leukemia and died that year, but managed to compose two of his important late works there: the 3rd piano concerto and the viola concerto. We were the only ones who showed up for the tour and so had lots of time to look around.

The other activity today was the knocking down and taking away of the hornet/wasp nest. We only saw one hornet. The others must have died inside. I felt bad to kill them and really admired their nest, which was beautifully engineered and put together out of the most delicate paper-like fabric. However, if Rusty had come upon the nest and been attacked by a swarm of hornets, he probably would have been killed. So we're glad we destroyed the colony. The heavy rain, which is still falling, will help to wash the pesticide away. Tomorrow we will observe the situation. You should have seen us in our headnets, boots, bug jackets, and winter gloves! Linda, I'm glad we didn't have to do this from the inside like you did! At least all the spraying, etc. was done outside.

Wishing everyone a good evening. Off to a few condos and then to work on a paper that I have to submit this week.

Hi Ella! Rusty had a great day and I hope you all have had a great time the last couple of days. It's neat to explore new places you haven't been.

I saw your post on our condo. Yes, the Terumos are more narrow in the barrel so I can't use the same caliper measurements. MJ loaned me an adjustable micropipettor. So I pulled up my dose in the MJs and measured it with the calipers, per usual. Then I used the micropipettor to determine the dose. You won't believe how far off the Mzjs consistently were..about .5u! Then I pulled the dose indicated by the micropipettor into the Terumos. Then I had to work backwards to get the right amount of insulin in the Terumo syringe that measured the same in the micropipettor. Once I got that, I measured the distance with the calipers.

So..I'm holding my breath to see if I was close but Gracie is bouncing so I won't be able got ell into the bounce clears if I'm even close....plus I had to give her a reduction so....

I do like not having to deal with the hub in the MJ and the variability there.

Tobey sends his love and thinks it is time for a visit and cimmamum cookies!
