Yesterday's Condo

I don't know what is up. I guess it's possible I gave a fur shot at some point but haven't seen wet fur or smelled Lantus. Her insulin is less than 3 months old, sits in a little container in the fridge, and is only out long enough for me to draw the shot. It looks good, nice and clear. I just don't know why a 1.25u dose was giving her better numbers before this and now I can't get in front of things. Started her on 1.75u this morning. She's eating about half 10% and half 2-5% food. She had a little pudding this morning (which sometimes seems to happen with higher BGs) so I'm going to hold the food there for about a week before making any changes. On the plus side, I do think there a more yellows and less pinks on her SS. So a small improvement? Guess I better pull up those patience pants and soldier on!

All else is well. Other than the little pudding poo, the 5 P's are good. She was singing to Dee this morning and then dove under the bed. I was having a giggle batting at the sheets hanging down and then pulling them up to see her on her back waving her paws around trying to catch them. :-D It's lovely to have a playful cat back. And Dee just stares at us with big eyes wondering how she ended up in a house of loonies.

Hope everyone stays cool and has a happy, healthy day!

Re: 7/15 Nikki AMPS 315 (a little frustrated)

Good plan on the dose increase.

I do think there's a bit more yellow on Nikki's SS. I suspect you've not gotten to what is a good dose for her yet. It just takes some patience in order to get there.

Re: 7/15 Nikki AMPS 315 (a little frustrated)

Patience is not my strong suit I suspect.

Thanks for taking a look at her SS. It's just weird that she was hitting blues on 1.25u and isn't now. I'm hoping though that if her body gets used to the yellows she won't bounce as much when we get her to the blues....We'll see!

Thanks for checking in. :-D

Re: 7/15 Nikki AMPS 315 (a little frustrated)

Oh, Nikki! Quit frustrating your mom and get some blues going!! As you know, Bob and i are right there with you. I think I've had a glimpse of blue maybe twice. Sigh. Maybe we can share a pair of patience pants?

Re: 7/15 Nikki AMPS 315 (a little frustrated)

That sounds like a plan! I know I should be happy that I'm at least not seeing any reds or blacks but it's still so frustrating! Especially when I drag my butt out of the bed in the middle of the night and she's higher than when I went to sleep!

I'm actually really regretting not having a significant other right now. :?

Alright Bob and Nikki, let's get with the program!

Re: 7/15 Nikki AMPS 315 (a little frustrated)

Flat is good! Nikki just needs a little more jooce right now. It's a moving target, which is very annoying. Happy Monday!

Dangit I need some co-operation here Pancreas!

Flat is better than bouncy! We just need to lower that flat down.... :-D

Thanks for stopping by Liz! I love following Zener's adventures! :-D

Re: 7/15 Nikki AMPS 315 (a little frustrated)

I feel the same way - glad there are no reds and blacks (I hope it wasn't just the meter change!) - what meter do you use?

I'm single as well and yes, it does suck! It would be so nice to have someone to share the burden! I had to teach my mom and a friend to give Bob's shots, but she doesn't like to test his blood.

Well, Anne said flat is good so that's something positive. Bob has been very flat since switching to Lantus. Now it's just get him on some canned food and maybe we'll see some blues....maybe Nikki just needs a little more insulin and you never know. It looks like you are close!

Hang in there!

Re: 7/15 Nikki AMPS 315 (a little frustrated)

I was actually thinking about Bob yesterday when I was giving Dee her food. I'm using up a bag of dehydrated raw food on her that is a little high in carbs for Nikki (I think it is about 15%) but I was wondering if you could use this type of food to transition Bob... If you don't wet it, you could break it up into dry, crunchy pieces and if he likes it maybe just sloooowly adding water would work? I bet once he gives up on the texture thing he'll eat the wet. The girls love this stuff! Primal Raw food. Hopefully you'll find something that works!

I'm hoping that if she gets used to being in the yellows she won't bounce as much from the blues when we get there. :YMSIGH: I'll admit, I'm a little jealous when I see someone who has their cat in good numbers after two weeks on insulin...

I guess every day we get with our sugarcats is a blessing. At least I know Nikki is happy and playful, which makes me happy. :-D

Re: 7/15 Nikki AMPS 315 (a little frustrated)

Oh and Dara, since I'm apparently lacking in the ability to remember what I read today  , I use the Arkray Glucocard 01. I bought it through the ADW link at the top of forum. The strips are reasonable and they have a fair amount of sales. Plus it only needs a tiny drop of blood, which is good because I sometimes have a hard time with Nikki and testing. I started with a Relion from Walmart but it never worked right and since the strips are interchangeable I went with the Arkray. :-D

Re: 7/15 Nikki AMPS 315; PMPS 223

Much better number tonight. Hopefully we'll have a good blue surf and no bouncing!

Thanks for all the messages today, I feel much better! :-D :YMHUG:

Re: 7/15 Nikki AMPS 315; PMPS 223; +3 158

Ooh, I'm liking this! Gave 1 tbs of the raw to keep her from dropping too sharply. Now to see if she's still going down or is going to bounce before bedtime. I'll probably grab a +4 if I can stay awake. Otherwise am setting alarm for a +5....
