A bit of a higher AMPS, but that's possibly due to the HC wet food last night and he had a few bites of DM dry. He almost hypoed an hour after his PM shot because he refused to eat. Lethargic and wouldn't even open his eyes. My husband immediately gave him Tuna flavour so that he'd finally eat, and half an hour later when I got home he was at 47 and then it was a game of giving him HC food to keep him from dropping down again. At +5 I gave him the HC dry so that I could finally go to bed without worrying. He's been keeping me up too late too long now.

This morning, I'm continuing the fight to get him to eat something other than tuna. I gave him chicken dinner again, which he refused, and shot him a fat 2.5. His AMPS is high enough that I don't have to worry if he doesn't eat yet. Eventually he'll get hungry....

As long as he eats by onset you should be ok. Breaking the tuna habit can be tough. I wonder if you mixed a little tuna into the chicken if it would help and then slowly reduce how much tuna you mix in while transitioning him.

Lots of support vibes for you -- the fast track down the dose ladder is exciting but very tiring too. This hard part is not permanent -- rest will come.

Well after half an hour he was up to 266. Hunger strike continues...

Yeah, I've been mixing the tuna and chicken for a few weeks now. This time, I'll hold my ground! I don't like blackmail ;)

Wishing you the best with the food change I know how tough that can be Do Lou loves his primal raw nuggets now and I did a test about 2 weeks ago put some a few dry pieces down to see what he would do and he refused them and just ate his raw I could not believe it since he used to race to any dry bowl he could see anyway I know tuna is not dry but to me getting a cat to change their food habit can be so very very hard to do. He also loves freeze dried salmon and those tuna flakes did not know if you could try sprinkling something like that on Hearts food if that would help or not I know dropping low is scary freaks me out. Hope Heart has a great day for you :-D

Re: 7/15 Heart AMPS 209, +0.5 266

When you are newly shooting low numbers, we encourage you to get a +1. If the +1 doesn't reflect a food spike, get +1.5. This will help you to know whether you need to provide a little gravy if numbers are dropping. You might want to consider breaking up meals and giving mini-meals over the first couple of hours of the cycle. This may slow things down a little.

I understand why you fed dry last night but it really does mess with numbers.
