Eleanor wouldn't take her SEB with her AM shot. I gave it to her with her +3 snack, 20 minutes later she threw up. It was her food that came up, no fur, no blood. She ate again and held it down. She's been hanging by the water bowl. Played a little bit, has buzzed around acting fine a couple times, then flopped back down by the water bowl or her water fountain. Took her temperature, it's 101.2. Negative ketones.

I talked to her vet, as expected, he said I'm giving her too much insulin. I don't know what I'm doing. I do know it can take her up to 14 cycles to settle into a dose and I'm increasing every 6 because I'm frantic to get her BG down.
I don't know what to do. And I'm sick and not functioning mentally. I was thinking maybe I could borrow money to take her to the vet, but I don't think she's sick. If she is, now it's the weekend and no way can I take her to the emergency clinic.....I'm so worried about her.

Julie, I'm so sorry Eleanor is still having some GI issues. It sounds like she might be a bit dehydrated, which wouldn't be surprising after throwing up so much lately. Have you ever given her subq fluids? Do you think your vet would prescribe them for you?

I'm glad she felt better after throwing up today and ate. I hope you are feeling better, too.

Sending healing vines for both of you. :bighug:

Thank you Tricia. I do have subq fluids and gave her some this morning after seeing your reply. I don't know why I didn't think of that myself. DUH!
She is definitely acting like she feels more comfortable.

YAY, glad the Subq fluids that @Tricia Cinco(GA) & Harvey suggested is helping!

Regarding her dose - she has been as high as 5.25u before. I don't see anything to suggest that her dose is too high right now. You get more than enough tests in to be confident that there are no hidden sneaky low numbers in there. I think you're doing great with the dose. It looks like she may need more.

One thing to check is the age of the Lantus, but I see you started a new pen not too long ago and the numbers have stayed the same. So check that one off the list. I don't think it's a problem.

Eleanor's ss reminds me of Jenks' - have you ever looked at his? The dose goes up and the dose goes down, and just like you, Jenks' bean tries to keep up with the blood sugar changes. I think you're doing everything right. With the vomiting and the diarrhea, she may have something else going on, but you've certainly taken her to the vet plenty to explore that question. Do you know of another vet who could give you a second opinion on it?

Thank you Julie. I reminded the vet that previously I took her up to 5.25u, he told me I was giving her too much then too, but when she started coming down he told me she is probably a brittle diabetic. Sigh. He thinks anything over 3u is a very high dose.
I'll look at Jenk's SS.

I've never heard of cats being brittle diabetics. I had to look it up:
Brittle diabetes is a sub-type of type 1 diabetes. Brittle diabetes mellitus (or labilediabetes) is a term used to describe particularly hard to control type 1 diabetes. Those people who have brittle diabetes will experience frequent, extreme swings in blood glucose levels, causing hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia.
LOL - I would say 95% of cats would fit that description. I don't think Eleanor is that unusual. Aggravating, yes, but not particularly unusual.

Jenks' bean usually posts late at night.
