Well, I'm hoping this is Simpkin's last condo - he still wasn't eating last night, even after his glucose went from 310 to 222 to 102 to 69 and then to 91 in the morning. The vet told me he probably felt bad because of the blood sugar being high. But Brownie always ate alot with blood sugars that high... I asked him to do a U/A and ALL bloodwork. He didn't do the U/A and only did a Chemistry. I also asked him to really check out his teeth as they are always the first thing to look at when a kitty won't eat. He did a quick look and I actually asked him to look again - I said that I didn't know how he had seen anything! He brushed me off and said they looked fine. I also asked them to weigh him and they didn't! They closed at noon and I think they just wanted to get home. Anyway, I took him to my original vet (same office, she was just out yesterday) and left him for a few hours. She actually DID look in his mouth and found that he had bitten off a large chunk of his tongue! Probably a few days to a week ago (we were in FL). Plus, she did a U/A and found a UTI. She wants us to watch his sugars (he got no insulin today) for a few days. He may be borderline diabetic and the pain from his tongue and from the UTI might have been enough to get his glucose high. We'll keep checking him and hoping that he won't go into full-blown diabetes. We got a weight today - he's 13.5 pounds. I may try to get him to shed a pound (very slowly) and hope that will help keep diabetes at bay... Thanks for the advise yesterday - you guys are the best.
