I am planning on posting on Health about the relationship between subQ's & BG's & insulin dose. Since Blackie is getting his fluids in the evening, his bg's have almost consistently been much lower at night. This is a problem because his bg's are very high in the daytime. I just don't think this wide swing in numbers can feel good or be good for him. I also suspect that if he wasn't getting fluids, he would be on a higher dose.

WCR: Blackie continues to act as if he is fine. His fluids went easier last night with a little larger needle and I held him on my lap in the living room instead of while he ate. All P's in place. I know he still has issues: he's hovering over the water bowl, still howling while at the water bowl.

Ele, why in the evenings? Or could you split the dose and do it BID? I know they had me doing that for Cleo for her CRF.

Re: 7/14 Blackie amps 409

Well, Duh!! I have been so focused on making the subQ's easy on Blackie and one us that I never thought about doing it bid. Our vet just said to give 100ml per day. Now that I'm using a slightly larger needle, it would be pretty quick to do it bid (mornings are rushed at my house). And I bet Blackie would be more comfortable getting less fluids at one time. I think we'll try that tomorrow.

Thanks, Ann. Sometimes I just don't see the obvious.

Hi guys! I love it when the obvious is right in front of our noses. I hope that works for you and Blackie. I'm sure he doesn't like those 400's either. Good luck!
