A little higher this morning, hopefully just adjusting to new dose. Trouble is doing so good. He has been sitting outside in the garden for 2 hours now. When he comes in the scent of tomatoes follows everywhere. It's funny! I hope everyone is having a great day!

I asked a dental question in Lisa and Do Lou's thread...let me know if I should move it here!

He smells like tomatoes? How funny! I'm so envious that you have fresh garden tomatoes.

Troubles numbers are beautiful.

The frequency of cleanings depends on your cat. Trouble should have an annual check-up; twice yearly if your cat is over 10 is what my vet recommends. Your vet should check your cat's teeth at the time of the check up. If you notice bad breath, red gums or any kind of oral swelling, a dental could be needed. Gingivitis or any inflammation could cause BG numbers to rise. Deb's Spot was OTJ and started having dental problems and he's now back on a little bit of insulin until his numbers come back down. When Gabby was at the vet recently, she noted that Gabby needs a dental. Her last one was in October.

The effects of anesthesia are relatively short lived. In some cats, anesthesia can cause BG numbers to drop. This is why vets have you either not give any insulin the day of a procedure or give only half of the dose. During the procedure, BG should be monitored and there should be an IV placed if fluids or dextrose is needed. Gayle mentioned in Do Lou's condo that Shadow's numbers dropped. Anesthesia had no effect on Gabby's numbers.
