Hi guys. I'm worried why Nelson has gone so high today? We've been out so there was no food left out. It's been a few days since uti diagnosis and antibiotic injection. He's so random, he's going to be the death of me with worry. Any ideas?
Thanks

I'll try and do an extra check tonight (it's winter here and we don't have heating so it's hard getting out of bed). Is the bounce from the change from 2.75 to 3 units?

Not necessarily related to an increase in insulin. It's because the liver perceives a low blood glucose situation and releases a lot of stored up glycogen to respond to what it thinks is a dangerous situation. Once Nelson levels out a bit the bounces will cease and at least the highs/lows will hopefully be not so extreme. Sorry about having to get up late in the night when it's cold...but often times kitties will go low at night - they're nocturnal and love to do things like this at night - and you have to catch those low numbers and feed accordingly in order to 1)prevent the bouncing and 2)know what the lowest bg number is that the dose is taking Nelson. It's very helpful for determining when to raise/lower the dosage.
