I was real happy with Jinx's numbers today but he's gone in the litter box three times over the last hour with loose stools and there was some blood in his last one. I got him off the flagyl on Saturday so I'm assuming that's the reason he's had solid stools for the past two weeks.

He didn't eat much at first but now he's finishing his food so I'm happy about that. Wasn't able to bring him in to the vets today but I'm going to tomorrow.
Not sure what to do about the loose stools at this point aside from trying another food or getting him on a long-term antibiotic. I'll talk to the vet tomorrow about whether it could be due to the IBD and what my options are. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Gabby went through a bout of problems with diarrhea and loose stools. She'd be on a course of Flagyl for a week or two, it would get better and then a week later we were back where we started. I had every possible test run including ones for parasites. The next step would have been a biopsy. Before we went the invasive route, my vet suggested a longer course of Flagyl. I think she was on meds for a month and she finally kicked whatever the problem was.

Thanks, Sienne. I just heard from someone on the Pancreatitis board who also had good luck with long-term flagyl use. I will talk to the internist about that tomorrow.

Although, they are advising me against raw food considering Jinx has IBD and Pancreatitis. So, considering flagyl has firmed up his stools regardless of whether he was on canned or raw, maybe I'll switch back to canned. :roll: :roll:
