Good Morning Everyone,

Today we have Randi and her family in our thoughts. Max has arrived safely at the Rainbow Bridge and is surrounded by many, many friends.

After the excitement of yesterday's squirrel hunt, Rusty (and we) didn't hear the first-bell alarm this morning. Good thing the "Ducks" sound their alarm 3 minutes later!! We had a good test (not a bad AMPS, especially since the shot yesterday evening was short), shot, breakfast (Wellness Turkey, 2 sittings), a good play with the streamers on the wand, and now Rusty has come upstairs and is sleeping on the banquette. How wonderful that he has discovered this spot!

It looks like another sunny day today, hopefully not as windy as yesterday. Some thundershowers are predicted for later on and I hope they will move out before tomorrow, when Edward and I are leading a paddle on the "Floodwood-Rollins Loop" of ponds, creeks, and carries. Today the annual guideboat races are being held in our village. These are always fun to watch. The Adirondack guideboat is a special rowed craft that was used by the 19th-century guides to take parties of hunters and fishermen to the wilderness (in those days there were few roads: the main roads were the waterways). Guideboats are shaped like canoes, but are wider and are rowed (or, rowed by one person in the bow while the sternsman paddles and steers). The guides put them on their shoulders for the portages. There are many variations in size and depth. A few of the antique boats are on display at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake. If you recall the Winslow Homer watercolor "The Blue Boat", that is an Adirondack guideboat. The boats that the Adirondack guides used were painted blue. Today many of them are still made from wood strips--a very time-consuming art--others are fiberglass. All are expensive.

Wishing you all a good day, and a Happy Canada Day! Sending healing vines to Rocket, J.D., and all kitties and beans who need some.

Hi Ella:)

Glad to hear that Rusty is happy and healthy this morning:) You three are lucky ducks that you had a back up alarm this morning :-D That's handy!
Thanks for sharing the history of the Adirondack guideboat and I hope you have fun on the trip you will be guiding with Edward tomorrow. Hoping the T-storms pass quickly as we are planning on taking the canoe out tonight to watch the fireworks.

Have a great day!

Hi Ella, nice blue start for today. Cute with Rusty's new sleeping spot. It sounds like a very interesting and nice time today in your village with the guideboat races. Have a wonderful time and hope the showers hold off for it.

After reading your condos, I usually have this urge to come visit you. What a wonderful place where you live!
Plus Rusty always looks so snuggly, and I can imagine giving him a gentle hug. cat_pet_icon

Yesterday I said I thought my Cappi (left) could be related to Rusty (right) ... see what I mean?

Re: 7/1 Rusty AMPS 126, +5.5 36!, +6.75 69

Oh, wow, CD! That picture is fantastic! Yes, they could be brother and sister. Thank you!!!

Look at Rusty's +5.5! My original reading was 24!!! (but there wasn't enough blood on the strip and I had to touch it again to get the reading). I didn't believe it, so I did a new test with a new strip and new blood drop: 36. I guess that's an automatic reduction, all right! He got all FF T&G for lunch and was very hungry. I attribute all of this to his dental with tooth extraction. That must really have been a bad tooth!

Saw a few of the guideboat races and thought I had taken my camera, but discovered that I had taken my wallet instead! I may go back this afternoon, Rusty permitting.

bbl,

Ella & Rusty

Wow, so many kitties today in the green! Congrats on the reduction!!!

Re: 7/1 Rusty AMPS 126, +5.5 36!, +6.75 69, +8 59

What is with all the green kitties today! Congrats on the reduction. Rusty is really happy to have that nasty tooth gone!

What a great pic, CD! Definitely a matched pair.

Ella, your description made me Google guide boats. Those wood strips are gorgeous!

Rusty! :o   A reduction so soon post-dental. That tooth must have been bugging you! Woo hoo, go Rusty!

Re: 7/1 Rusty AMPS 126, +5.5 36!, +6.75 69, +8 59, +10 85

Hi guys. Wow Rusty is having quite the day here isn't he. It's amazing what a dental can do. Rocky and Malachi hope to see Rusty at their Canada Day/ Happy Sweet Sixteen Tori Party tonight. It should be a blast. Fire works included.

Re: 7/1 Rusty +5.5 36, +10 85, PMPS 174 boing!

Hey Barb,
So nice to see you. Rusty will certainly be at the party!!

Hi again everyone,

Rusty has bounced. I didn't expect such a big bounce, given his trends, but we got one anyway. I shot a skinny 1.5, but there was a largish drop left in the needle, so it was a short shot. We'll see what he does with it. I hope he can hold the skinny 1.5 and go down another rung. It would be great!!

Gotta go watch some of the Tour de France re-run because I missed most of the action today. bbl,

Ella & Rusty
