Re: Bud's running high on 0.6u

Beth, from all that others have posted, including myself, what do YOU think you should try next? And why?

Here is a link to your last thread where next steps were discussed: http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=63865

I think it would be good for you, and all FD caregivers, to learn and to try to understand how dose changes work so you can take control of Bud's FD without relying on us. What if we aren't here and you need an answer? None of us are vets and can't "tell you what to try next". We can offer suggestions based on our experience with our own cats and from reading other posts here.

I try to explain things so that someone else can understand "cause and effect" and start making their own decisions based on their own cat's response to insulin. I think that is what most people who offer suggestions are trying to do. Look at Bud's SS and where she had good numbers and bad numbers, what the doses were, what happened when you raised or lowered the dose and so on. You can probably come up with an answer to your own question based on analyzing her SS and people's responses to your last few threads.

I'll check back later to see what you are planning on doing next.

Re: Bud's running high on 0.6u

Sorry, I'm just a bit too stupid.

We won't waste anyone's time any longer.

Beth, who said you were stupid? I did not.

Your original post, that you deleted, asked: "tell me what to try next". That's all. No other information. It came across, at least to me, like you can't be bothered to think it through and want us to do all the work and "tell you what to do". In fact, I had already answered that question in your other thread - the one I linked - which is why I linked it.

I am trying to get you to make your own decisions because there is no reason that I know of why you can not. That means I think you are capable of it. The reason this board exists is to exchange experiences and to learn from what is discussed here. That is all I am trying to make happen. If you find that offensive, I am sorry. But I can't tell you what to dose your cat. I can only make suggestions and explain why I am making them so that YOU can decide what to do.

Hi Beth,

I'm sorry that you are upset. I am not sure why you asked what to do next, because I thought from your previous post that you were going to increase the dose. We helped you understand that and I believed you would go ahead with that. If you are unsure about increasing the dose, can you tell us why?

Sheila explained our approach to helping members here on Lev very well. We feel that empowering members by helping them understand how Levemir works is much better than simply telling people what to dose their cat. If you feel you need that kind of dose support, the Lantus TR section is a good place to get daily dose recommendations.

Otherwise I don't know what else to tell you.

Beth, I'm sorry you were upset by Sheila's post. The only thing I will add to what Sheila and Vicky said, is just that they want us to learn so we will feel comfortable helping the next round of scared newbies.
I hope you'll come back and post...
Marcy & Klinger
