Good Morning LL! The raw fuds are back on the menu, just not as appreciated as he Friskies! Kids! :roll: Purry and lovey this morning! Hopefully this is the bounce clearing.

Tess made it clear yesterday that she wants no part of that LWC. She heard Emma outside and raced from the living room to jump at the screen door! No way does she want her intruding on "Tess space."

WCR All 5 Ps, Clean Plate Club, Bonsai Club meeting this morning but cuddle until then!

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212

Morning Tess! I know you iz a pretty girl but you look better in blue... :-D :-D

Hey Ann! Poor Emma...all she wants is a bit of lovin'...integration is tough sometimes huh. I have one that will NEVER join anyone else, she was treated badly as a kitten before I rescued her. Altho' she loves her petting and attention and loves dogs, she just will NOT tolerate another cat. I've tried for years now...finally gave up and just give her her own room. The new pups are her room partners which is good with her. For some reason, she'll slap everyone else but not those pups even when they tackle her!

BIG HUGS!!!

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128

Oh no! Poor Emma; I bet she will keep persisting though! :lol: I'm thinking of when I had two how it went with Mags. She was the Emma here!
Nice slide into blue there for Tess.

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128

So much for the bonsai meeting! Guess I'll just work at home and Emma gets to go out after all! We're usually up at +3 not down 80 points at +2.5 so it looks like Tess is headed for the Lagoon!

Lyressa, Tess has had 13 years on her own and likes it! :roll: I don't think Emma would ever be totally indoor, not w/ the way she zooms around and climbs. I've let her in a few times and held on to Tess so Emma could explore, but I don't dare let Tess go! I think even if she is lonely at night, Emma has a better life here than her other options. People don't want white cats, especially ones w/ medical problems. There are way too many healthy ones available. She comes and gets laptime outside anyway

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128

Oh Ann.....I feel so bad for Emma. I bet she'd love to have Tess for a friend.

I have to admit, I did laugh at the mental image of Miss Tess, running through the house and jumping at the door.....she looks so sweet and innocent. :lol:
When I got Clancy, he just would not take "no" as an answer, from Checks and Tux. Followed them everywhere, and plopped next to them. They weren't nasty to him, tho.....just wanted to stay as far away as possible.
They hissed and screamed and growled, for the first week. It was awful. :roll:

It doesn't sound as tho Tess would have any of that....she ain't about to let Emma in *her* house. :-D

I hope you're having a nice day. :cool:

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128 +4~62 +5~45

Good thing we stayed home. We fed the 62 w/ trout and a little honey and lots of duck sprinkles.

Lately she hasn't been wanting to eat at low numbers, so we just resorted to chicken baby food and honey. I got most of it in and she is busy cleaning the rest off her face! :roll:

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128 +4~62 +5~45

Wow, Ann, I guess Tess didn't want you going anywhere today!
Duck sprinkles?? Sounds decadent!

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128 +4~62 +5~45

Hi Ann, John ~O) ~O) ~O)

Sorry to have been so MIA lately, things have been a little crazy here. I hope you guys are doing well.

WOW on Tess today - guess you really didn't ant to go to that bonsai meeting after all. Sure is nice to see all that green. WOOT!

YAY too on the raw being back on the menu. I never really did have a chance to try with Mannie. I bought a few samples, but that was also the time when the appy stopped. well, good I think that Tess does like it.

Well bummer on the integration. It can be hard with a kitty that has been a solo act for a long time. Elsa took to it well after a few days, but she is also used to other cats in the household. Emma seems to do well with what she has there, so if it works - good deal. love the race ad the screen door plant. :shock: ;-) How's Emma's health issues? She doing OK now?

Enjoy your day today!

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128 +4~62 +5~45

Whoa, cowgirl! That is over the line, back that up just a bit and get on that surfboard. Doesn't Lyresa's description of her fuzzy feetz make you wish you could visit? :-D I think Emma's got a very sweet deal. She landed in a tub of butter, as far as I can tell. :-D :-D

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128 +4~62 +5~45+6~61

Up 20 points, that's the honey talking, she's eating a little trout without being "helped" back again in an hour.

Liz, I'd love to be surrounded by kittehs, but 2 are keeping me hopping! Thanks on Emma, I just feel bad leaving her alone in the evening. going out to play w/ her now! :-D :-D

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128 +4~62 +5~45+6~61=7~33

And there is the hone wearing off after 2 hours! ohmygod_smile Fe 1/4 oz of Wellness11% pouch food, lots of gravy and a double drop of honey, She ate most of it, just left a few of the chunks but most of the carbs were in the gravy. So we should be good for another 2 hours but will check again in 1.

At least she hasn't gone back under the chaise this time!

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128 +4~62 +5~45+6~61+7~33+8~44

:roll: more gravy and honey. Yuch what a combo! :lol: :lol:

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128 +4~62 +5~45+6~61+7~33+8~44+9~

Does Tess get a dosecrease for that 33?

It's weird how your mm on your syringes are so much different than mine. I use ReliOn. What do you use?

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128 +4~62 +5~45+6~61+7~33+8~44+9~

I suppose she should get one, we'll see how bad the bounce is.

We're using Terumo and the unit marking were way different from our old Monojects. I know I'm getting the right mm, but really guessing as to what to call the units. The lines are really off from syringe to syringe.

Dyana, do you use R as a bolus. I'm thinking about it for Tess, waiting to hear from Libby.

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128 +4~62 +5~45+6~61+7~33+8~44+9~

Yes, I had to give J.D. some tonight. He was 552 at +11 after a nice green day.. :(
I am leary about giving it on days when I have to work the next day (which tomorrow I am off, so it's okay) as it will sometimes affect the next days numbers for some odd reason.
Do you have R to use?

I was just wondering that same thing about the naming of the doses as the syringe I used tonight was right at the half unit mark and I am calling it a S0.50, but I swear the zero lines on most of these ReliOn syringes are one quarter unit give or take :roll: . I tried complaining about them, and all I got was a free box of more mis-lined syringes.

If you reduce, you'll go to what? .2?

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 +2.5~128 +4~62 +5~45+6~61+7~33+8~44+9~

@-) @-) You are probably right. I think I got off somewhere in naming the units. The .6mm probably should have been called .4u, not .3u, according to Marje's calculations. Not sure if I should correct it or not, SS is easy, but all the condos!!! :shock:

Reduction would be to .5mm or .55mm. What to call it in units? confused_cat Whatever it is it ain't much! And I am consistent w/ the mm, just not naming them. :?

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212…+5~45+6~61+7~33+8~44+9~56+10~45

There went the honey! I hate to give more gravy and honey at +10, and so does Tess. Had to spoon feed this time, but got it in her.

Dyana, we don't have R yet, but I should be able to get it at Costco tomorrow. This is likely to be a major bounce, but we probably won't get it in time to head things off.

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212…+5~45+6~61+7~33+8~44+9~56+10~45

Hi Ann,
Just reading about Tess's day (and yours!) makes me tired! I'm glad that she ate most of what was offered. Rusty is sorry that he couldn't be in the lagoon today to keep an eye on Tess.

I know what you mean about what to "call" the doses in units. When I switched to Terumos from Monojects I tried to "translate" the dose, but I think my dose on the more recent Monojects was more than I was calling it (because of the cone). And I think that Rusty was getting less insulin from his Terumos than he was from the Monojects (nothing to do with the "cone", which I tried to compensate for, but with the different diameter of the syringes). Anyway, I base everything on mm and not on units, and use a lot of fats and skinnys, to try to approximate the mm for the sake of the spreadsheet. When I change doses I always remark on the SS what the dose is in mm.

I can understand why Tess doesn't want another kitty in "her" house (Rusty also has to be an "only"). But Emma is a very lucky kitty to have been adopted by you, and I hope that she will settle in and that she and Tess can develop some kind of routine acceptable to them both.

Have a good evening. I hope the bounce isn't too high. Rusty will get the ropes ready, just in case.

Ella & Rusty

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212…+5~45+6~61+7~33+8~44+9~56+10~45

Wow Tess!!! You mean business clearing that bounce today!! She wants to wobble.

I was doing the fat skinny chubby thing and I finally just went with 1u = 10 drops and by my calculations, each drop is roughly .15mm difference on the calipers which means .15mm = .1u. You can see on Gracie's SS where I switched from doing fats and skinnys to .1u increments. It's been so much easier since I did that. If I need to dose in between then it's easy. I add .08 mm and call it in between such as .95u. It's a little off since you can't really split .15mm down the middle on the calipers...mine don't read to .075 which would be half of .15mm. Does that make sense?

On the R, the reason why you might see lower numbers the next cycle or next day (and I do as well) is because the R breaks through (scientific huh) the counterregulatory hormones and then the basal insulin can do it's job. So I think, depending on how much response you got on the R and when you gave it during the cycle, you might see a really active cycle subsequently when the basal dose kicks in. Julie said she saw the same with Punkin.

I haven't heard back from Libby....I know she was up all night with the smoke alarms in her house (no fire just dust in the alarms and made them go off) and also with KK so she was tired. It's best to get her input. For instance, if you had given it last night when she started up in those pink numbers, you might really have been fighting her today. However, if you had given it 6/7 at +10 or PMPS, it probably would have kept her from bouncing a whole additional day.

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212…+5~45+6~61+7~33+8~44+9~56+10~45+11~107

I'm glad she's coming up a bit, to make it more comfortable to shoot at +12.
Just to let you know, WalMart has R at $24.89 or something like that, a vial. I don't know what Costco's price is, but my local grocery store wanted something like $87 for a vial. That's a lot of cat treats difference.

I too hope that Tess and Emma can learn to share your house.

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212…+5~45+6~61+7~33+8~44+9~56+10~45+11~107

Wow...that's great to know, Dyana. I paid $87 at Costco with a pharmacy card.

Re: 6/9 Tess AMPS~212 PMPS~103 reduction

+11 was 107 and PMPS down just slightly, so not soaring yet maybe just all the gravy and honey this afternoon. And Tess even ate part of her dinner. Ugh, I hate resetting the caliper! For the R I will definitely get another one!

Marje, I'd just worked out a very similar camparison on the mm/units:
  • 1.500mm = 1.00U
    1.125mm = 0.75U
    0.75mm = 0.50U
    0.60mm = 0.40U
    0.525mm = 0.35U
    0.45mm = 0.30U
    0.375mm = 0.25U
    0.30mm = 0.20U
    0.225mm = 0.15U
    0.15mm = 0.10U
Somehow I just got off somewhere. I changed the SS, redoing the recap in the condos may take some time if ever.

Thanks for getting in touch w/ Libby, no big rush on the R, I still have to go get it so tonight would be a no go anyway.
