6/8 Timber OTJ Trial Day 5 PMBG 91

well, after the emergency vet trip lastnight at midnight (didn't get home until 3am!!) because of an absessed anal gland, Timber is signicantly happier this morning!! :RAHCAT

he spiked a high BG (226) just before i took him to the vet. i didn't test him again after that lastnight because he had a rough night being poked and proded at the vet! :cry: i tested him this morning and he's down to 140! i'm hoping he'll settle back into the green by tonight and the spike was just related to the pain/infection. he's now on 2 weeks of antibiotics and a few days of pain meds.

he just had a ruptured anal gland in january and it was nasty! even the vet said it was one of the worst she'd seen for a cat. i was so scared to wait and have him go through that again! i had to get the kids out of bed to bring him in lastnight (DH is working out of town for a few days). apparently he needs to go in every 4 months to have them checked so we don't end up in emergency situations!! ohmygod_smile

but, he's super cuddly this morning! perhaps his way of saying thank you for making the pain go away?? :lol: :lol:

Poor Timber. Good that you took him in last night, but what a night for you. I'm sure he'll feel better in a couple of days. I would think his numbers would come down now. Come on Timber, continue with the count down!
Hope you can get some rest today!

That is crazy! But good thing you took him in. Poor guy. The pain could definitely cause the BG spike. Paws crossed he get back to normal numbers right away.

OW! I'm sure his happy purry dance is thanking you - I can't even imagine how uncomfortable that must be. Let's bring those numbers down to double digits now Timber!

I'm so glad Timber is ok and coming back down, Maria. I agree with Sienne....could be infection AND pain.

If he gives you a blue number tonight, go ahead and feed him and then test him in three hours....see if his pancreas is bringing him down.

And yay....DAY FIVE!

then this morning my 8 year old daughter runs into the panty door and puts her hand through one of the glass panes. off to urgent care we went. luckily she didn't do any serious damage. she had deep gash below her wrist that required some stitches, but nothing more. of course, she was in complete hysterics and it was not fun for any of us! but, she's totally good now :-D

at any rate, i'm DONE with this weekend!!!!!!!!!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

That sounds really scary. For both your daughter and you. She'll have a scar to show off when it heals.

Glad to hear she is ok.

Well, the weekend is almost over! Nice to see Timber come down. I'm sure it's because he feels much better.

thank you! it was pretty scary. she's my dramatic child too- usually becomes hysterical "just in case". but this was the worst thing she's been through- so she was terrified. makes you feel completely helpless as a parent :cry: they put some numbing meds in the wound before they stitched it. that was the longest minute of my (and her) life. but once it took effect she didn't feel the actual stitches and has been fine ever since. i'm sooooo grateful she didn't hurt herself worse!!

Quite the busy weekend for emergency medical visits for your family. Hope your daughter recovers as quickly as Timber seems to have.
