Good Morning Everyone,

Today is going to be hot, even here in the mountains. But when we think of all those massive fires in AZ, we feel lucky. I hope that all the AZ beans in LL are safe.

Rusty had his usual good sleep through the night, right between his beans. This morning he had a good test and a good shot and 2 sittings of breakfast and then went outside with me. He sat on the back stoop in the sun. Edward came out (while I went down to the cellar to bail) and said that Rusty perked up an ear, walked around to the side of the house, and there was Shadow. They "communed" for quite a while at a distance of about 4 feet. Neither growled or made a hostile move. Then Shadow frisked away and Rusty came inside. He is now sitting by the window in the "mud room", watching.

While I was out with him this morning I saw two does with a very young fawn (still with spots) in the back yard: Momma, Auntie, and baby were munching away. So neat.

Everyone have a good day,

Ella & Rusty
Hey Kitties: don't forget the party at Camp Stu on Friday.

Re: 6/8 Rusty AMPS 110

Sounds like Rusty is having a great day with 2 breakfasts, a sunbath outside, a quick visit with Shadow and even a deer siting.
Life is good.

I sure hope the basement bailing will come to an end. That has been going on far too long. Best of luck and I hope the water table drops to where it belongs.

Re: 6/8 Rusty AMPS 110

I love your wildlife reports. I'm so glad Rusty gets to go out and commune w/ nature, and Shadow too!

I hope things start drying up now that the weather is warmer. I heard the report on NPR about the mud slides near you! Not too close I hope.

Re: 6/8 Rusty AMPS 110, +5.5 64

Hi again,
Yes, the mud slides are about 40 miles from here, in the heart of the High Peaks. They are still sliding and some homes have slid with them. Some people have lost everything, since it will be impossible to rebuild on their property (which, essentially, has vanished).

Rusty is down to green and hopefully will surf a bit before heading back up. He always gets a small portion of Wellness turkey for "lunch", so I don't expect him to drop, but will keep an eye on him.

I went out on my bike for about an hour this morning: it was pretty hot and bright but I'm glad I got out.

Back later. Rusty is chillaxing on the front porch. We got our fans out today.

Rusty is looking great, Ella! I think he likes this dose. :-D

Nice that you saw the deer...I caught a glimpse of a fawn disappearing into the brush yesterday. I love to see wildlife, one of the great things about living in the middle of nowhere! I vote for no more bailing out the basement! Stay cool....

Sounds like a pretty darn perfect morning for a kitty, who is Shadow by the way? Is he your kitty?

Excellent numbers for Rusty.

I'm kinda jealous of the heat down there, it hasn't cracked 70 degrees since i've been on holidays.....which has been 3 weeks.

Scary about the mudslides, are you in danger of mudslides at your place?

Have a great day Ella and Rusty!

Hi again,
Rusty and I spent about an hour outside this afternoon. He didn't want to go back in and strolled off into the wooded part of our yard. I really wanted him in because I had work to do, so I tried to pick him up (he goes limp like a sack of potatoes when one picks him up and I'm not good at picking up cats in any event). He protested and hissed at me!! I'm still not sure he's forgiven me!! (but maybe it's just the heat).
Tracy: Shadow is an almost grown kitten who lives across the street. He wants to be Rusty's friend and comes to call on him. He doesn't know that Rusty has issues with other cats!

Everyone have a good evening. thanks for visiting us today,

Ella & Rusty

Hi guys - what a nice day for Rusty: great numbers, and a visit with Shadow... and fawns!! Awesome. Sounds like Rusty has discovered the joys of being outside. Mannie would be very proud! sorry for the sack of potatoes, and the hiss. :?

I am glad the mudslides are not affecting you. I feel for those that have lost everything. We have an area here too where people have lost their land - fallen into the sea. so sad for so many people.

Have a great night guys!

isn't that crazy how cats can go limp, like they have no bones in their bodies when you're trying to lift them up? it's like trying to pick up a slinky! goofy animals!

glad you're not having landslides at your place, ella, but that's a little close for comfort when you're all soggy like that. it's time for your place to dry up!

we have lots of deer around here, even though we're in a neighborhood that's just 2.5 miles from downtown. sometimes i get mad at them for eating my roses and plants (and they did wipe out the bleeding hearts and hostas) but mostly i figure they have to eat too. the past 2 summers we've had deer with giant antlers that spend the afternoons in the shade in our back yard. hard to not love that!

punkin's ready to come visit at Camp Stu's! it'll be his first time - woot!

Ella, sounds like a nice day outdoors for Rusty. Funny on the hissing, though! The heat makes us all a little short tempered. Luckily, we're having a short cool down here to the 80s for the next couple days. We are in the country and have lots of wildlife, too. I see deer and turkey and raccoons every day lately. I'll miss it when we move into the city.

Rusty's numbers were so nice today! :-D :-D

Rusty, I want to come to your party, k? I'll bring good fuds and I hope we gets to sing again. I looooooves to hear you sing! Tessie Lou
