Just saw your other thread on LL and understand that there was 20 mins between the high carb food and the next test? (Is that correct?)
If so, then in my opinion, yes, it is possible for the BG to jump up that much in 20 minutes. In my own cat high carb wet food will start to raise his BG in 10 minutes. It could also be that there is a bit of bounce going on.
We can't know now what really happened. But I think you did the right thing to give high carb food straight away. Better safe than sorry. If I got a 'lo' I would probably give high carb and then test again. I wouldn't want to waste time.
But if I got a a surprisingly low number that wasn't 'dangerously low' then I'd test again first before giving food (that happpens to us quite a bit...).
I bet that really shook you up.
