Still waiting on that darn acro test. Good news is I found a pharmacy that will sell me just one pen of Levemir to buy me time til Mark's Marine order comes in.

@Wendy&Neko
- I'll be switching to Levemir this weekend. Do I still follow the 70% dose reduction rule? I'm a little hesitant to drop that much since he's seeing pretty good numbers and I don't want to lose them.
- Do I still follow the TR increases as written? Technically with these green nadirs I should be waiting 10 cycles, but I can see the numbers slipping a bit and want to get ahead of it (and I have wiggle room with current nadirs). Am I ok to increase after 8 instead?
- If/when it's time for a reduction, is it whole units this high? Half? Generally speaking.

Basically his immune system thinks the insulin is something it needs to attack. So any time I give him insulin his body attacks it and can't utilize it. So I have to give him more and more and more until he can't attack it anymore, or his body finally realizes it's ok leave it alone.

What a shame. Hard enough having to battle the diabetes and now you have to battle the IAA.
 
Yes on the 70%, especially since you are seeing green and Mr. Kitty has IAA. It's a new insulin, sometimes the antibodies don't recognize it right away and you get a strong reaction. In other words, a deep dive, in the first couple cycles. Also make sure you do the switch when you can monitor closely. ECID of course. Some cats also need less Levemir than Lantus - some more, another ECID. :rolleyes: Best be cautious to start. If the Lev dose is a dud after 4 cycles, we can talk about fast tracking him back up.

Nadirs in the 70's don't give you wriggle room, in the 90's would.
