Good morning LL, it's our every other day blue start. Zener woke me up again this morning before the alarm and got on the bed briefly for some purring and scritches. I was not fast enough with the fuds this morning (love the eating enthusiasm) so he went outside and had a little salad. Just a few minutes later, he was on his bench for the start of test, feed, shoot and pukus behavior began. He only puked up a blade of grass, with very little liquid. So, I waited a few minutes and started the feeding slowly and little bits at a time. He ended up doing fine and so gave his shot. Looks like our 100 point drop last night is back this morning, well - the 100 points - but in the opposite direction. :o

Congrats to Boo & Vidya on OTJ!

We have a vetty visit this afternoon for an anal glad re-check, so paws crossed all is good there and we can wait a bit longer between re-checks. Liz arrived at her sister's safe and sound and is meeting great nieces and nephews she's never seen before. Tonight she is running in a 4 mile race with many of them in Metropolis IL - the Superman run of course!

Hope all the kitties have a great time at the OTJ party! Happy Fursday LL!

Re: 6/7 Zener AMPS 177;+1 277

Hi guys .. uh, zener? Whatcha doin' there little man? Wrong way! Good for liz on meeting new family! I bet that is exciting .. and yay to her for running the superman race :-D Hope the vet visit goes well today .. have a great day!

Re: 6/7 Zener AMPS 177;+1 277

Hey Zener! Wrong way buddy. Turn it around nice and slow, maybe a 3 point turn would be best. Silly kitty and his salad. At least you know what to expect when it happens now. The help just needs to step it up a little. Good vetty visit vines being sent. Good luck to Liz on her run, even though she is a superstar and doesn't need luck. She does need to show all those Illinoisans how it's done though. ;-) Have a wonderful day Anne!

Re: 6/7 Zener AMPS 177;+1 277

Ok Zener, time to turn green and I don't think pukin' up a blade of grass counts.

Good luck to Liz and the Superman run. She has inspired me to run.... that is to run upstairs and clean out a closet. Isn't that almost as taxing as a marathon? ohmygod_smile

Re: 6/7 Zener AMPS 177;+1 277

Thanks for the good wishes on the run! I am proud that my 15 year old great-nephew was a little worried that I could beat him. He wanted to know by 10k time.  CD, I would rather run 4 miles than clean out a closet. :-D

@Devon - it was a nice blue start, then up jumped the devil! We aren't seeing as many greens as before and a bit more yellow, so a dosecrease is back on the table!

@Melissa & Mr T - Zener is sad softball season is over, so maybe that's why his numbers are up? Such great tent playing and cuddle time during a softball game.

@CD - BWAHAAAA, on the blade of green grass! Our appy angel Big Mac has been doing his thing with Zener lately. The big guy has been in the CPC often the past few days and very enthusiastic about his fuds.

Looks like another flat yellow day today. Zener is feeling good, eating well and purring, playing and the other Ps. He's been bouncing off some of his high greens and runs of blue lately, but we've not seen many greens at this dose lately, so considering going back up to his last good dose, but that would only be one drop. Any advice or whether to fatten the dose or go back up a full 0.25u is appreciated!

Re: 6/7 Zener AMPS 177;+1 277;+2 271;+3.5 279 dose?

Uh-oh, Zenner! She SAID IT!!! The dosecrease is on the table, time to get serious! Goot vetty vines today. Tess says KTSS will be there early to help him get rid of the smell before the party! No one wants to smell of VET at a party!

Good Luck, Liz! I think you DN is worried you have an advantage because you get to train at altitude! Of course, he trains in all that heat and humidity so he's used to it. :? ;-)

Re: 6/7 Zener AMPS 177;+1 277;+2 271;+3.5 279 dose?

Zener Zener!! Glad you are feeling better and eating well. SEnding good vetty vines.

Anne: regarding the dose, he is getting into green on this dose and the last time you recently had him on the f1.25, he did well. I know Libby has said before that they often respond better to increases of .25u rather than fattening. I think if you want to take him up .25u, you could but you might end up doing alot of extra monitoring to keep him safe and I know you are sole BIC right now. I think it comes down to your preference. I think the f1.25u will probably get him a little more green; if you take him up to 1.5u, it might jump start him a little but he might not be on it long. I used up all my crystal ball powers    on Ella the other night. I don't think either decision is wrong.

Hope Liz has a wonderful time and that SW treated her well on her trip.

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338 vet report

Looks like a possible post-vetty BG spike, the high before a break, still part of the bounce, or he's a cat! Marje - can I borrow your crystal ball?

Vet visit for anal glands
PMPS 338, 29th cycle @1.25u, 1/8 zantac, 1/4 ondansetron, 1.3oz 10%, 1/32t miralax

Zener had a month checkup at the vet today for his anal glands. Not much there, but what was there is very thick. We don't have to go back for an anal gland check again for 2 months now! :-D

Vet is very pleased with how well he is doing. Based on his sudden bouts of inappetance without any vomiting or diarrhea, she is leaning more toward some sort of nerve involvement to the stomach (from FD) and/or cramping like irritable bowel syndrome rather than IBD. She thinks we have a good combo with the zantac (for acid & motility), ondansetron (for nausea) and cerenia on maintenance doses. And based on his latest bloodwork is very pleased with the trend in his numbers. She is now giving out the FDMB website information to patients with FD and also asked if we would be willing to talk with others who come to her practice who have a cat diagnosed with FD. All in all a great report for the big guy, and paws crossed not another vetty visit for 2 months!

@Ann & Tess - will see how tonight's cycle goes, but dosecrease is on the table for tomorrow! Thanks for sending Tess and the KTSS tonight. Zener is furiously trying to clean that vetty (and anal gland expression) smell off himself before the party. Liz should just about be finishing the race right now. I'm sure she will report on who beat who!

@Marje - thank you for the advice, it helps so much! I am leaning toward fattening back to the f1.25 tomorrow morning as that was our last good dose. And, if we still aren't getting what we would like to see, then when Liz returns we can go up the full 0.25u. Alot of extra monitoring to be safe is tough right now and I worry that if he stops eating while Liz is away I won't be able to manage as well with him on my own. SW treated her right on the flight, it was packed but on time and her bag arrived. :-D

I'll try to get to more condos tonight, it's been tough to keep up with Liz away! Hope everyone has a drama-free Fursday evening. cat_pet_icon

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338 vet report

Hi Anne, good report on Zener. Great with your Vet referring her clients to our website and impressive that she asks you to talk with others who have newly diagnosed kitties. Good luck to Liz, and sounds like she is having a great time with her sister.

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338 vet report

Who knew Metropolis was in Illinois?

I agree with Marje's strategy. It sounds like a good plan. It also sounds like a good vet report.

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338 vet report

Glad that Mr Z's vet report is all clean. Your vet must be impressed with Zener. And what a nice compliment from him to recommend other FD patient to the forum! My vet just ignored when I tell him about getting info from forum.

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338;+1 259 vet report

Happy To See a good Vetty Report :RAHCAT :RAHCAT
Hope Liz has a good time and enjoys her vacay with family!!
Hugs & Lubs from us!!

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338;+1 259 vet report

The big guy didn't stay on the stinkus pinkus floor long! :-D Now, if he will get off the express elevator that would be nice.

@Ann & Maggie - it was a good vet report and we are delighted to help others if they need support. Liz just sent me an email - her sister won her age division in the race and Superman gave out her prize - it was not a piece of kryptonite.

@Sienne - yes, who knew? Head south out of Chicago and after a long time you'll come to Metropolis, no space ship necessary. I wonder if Kryptonite is across the river in KY? Thanks for the second for the plan! I'll see what he looks like in the morning. The good thing about our plans - Zener often changes them!

@Helen - I thought it was a very nice compliment too. The vet we go to is the owner and she is the most experienced vet we found in town with FD, though as we all know here in FDMB, that's not always all that much. She knew about FDMB before we took Zener to her, but I don't think she had any patients who were actively involved. What we like best about her is she views treatment as a team effort, she listens to us, asks us what we want to do, gives us her best opinions, and does her own research and reading. She has never ignored anything we have said or asked about, we feel very lucky!

@Roni - thanks, it's always a relief to get a good report! Liz is having a really nice time. We are sending lots of good energy to you as you get ready to do your travels and to DH and Moonie, holding down the fort while you are away.

The mighty Z is outside on yard patrol and has paws crossed another bird comes in the house tomorrow.

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338;+1 259 vet report

Great vet report! Wow on your vet...she sounds simply amazing. Nice drop there, Zener!

Hope Liz did well in the race!

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338;+1 259 vet report

It's so great that you have a good vet, and that Zener had a good visit.

Sounds like Liz is having a wonderful time meeting new family.

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338;+1 259 vet report

Hooray for the good vetty report. Good for you, Z.! No doubt you are rid of vetsmell and are having a great time at the party.

Waiting for Liz's race report. 4 miles--that's a tough distance. Almost as hard as a 5K because you have to go at top speed the whole time. I hope Wonderwoman showed that 15-year-old great nephew her heels!

Have a great evening,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338;+1 259 vet report

sorry to be so late in posting. What a nice vetty report - I love it when they refer FD families to the board. What a great thing. Good luck with the dose increase, when you decide to go ahead with it. :-D

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338;+1 259;+2 240;+3 194 vet report

@Georgia - we've lived in our small town for 15 years and she is our 6th vet. Quite a lot of vet practices in town but the only emergency clinic and hospital practice. We went for a 2nd opinion after our vet did Zener's dental and we had complications afterward with his appetite and GI motility. We felt like she was better informed on FD than the vet we were seeing, so we transferred there for all of Zener's care.

@Barb - I'm always relieved when we leave the vet and don't have to schedule another appointment when we check out!

@Ella - Zener is fully cleansed and enjoying the party! Liz just called and she was 6th in her age group, and her sister won her age group (she was the only one in her age group, but she beat all those who didn't come! ) Superman gave out the awards! She will have to give all the details, but the nephew ran a fast one!

@Michelle & Mannie - ah, it's not that late, we are the same time as you when you are on DST (AZ does not do DST, so MST is the same as PDT). Thanks for the lucky dose wishes. We shall see what happens tonight. Right now he is dropping so we shall see "how low does he go".

I'm sorry I didn't get around to many condos today. I hope everyone had a good day. I had a busy day starting with a 2-hour phone call to a work colleague in Germany and ending with a vetty visit. This being the lone BIC is tough! Whew. Me and the kitties don't have much on our agenda for tomorrow or Saturday. I do believe naps are in order. :-D

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338;+1 259;+2 240;+3 194 vet report

Good to see him in blue. That's great the vet is giving out info on FDMB!

I read back over my response and thought..."wow...talk about wishy washy!"  sorry about that .

No worries, wishy washy is just what I needed. I was feeling the same way, so that tells me to opt for safety until Liz gets home. Planning the f1.25 in the AM unless there is some drama tonight.

Re: 6/7 Zener PMPS 338;+1 259;+2 240;+3 194 vet report

Hi Anne & Liz,

What a great vet visit Zener had! Your vet really does sound super! Most vets don't like to admit there may be a better way to treat diabetes or any other disease than their own way.

Liz, I hope you wind up beating the kids or tying with them in the race! Have fun visiting and meeting all the young people in the family.

I hope the dosecrease brings on the greens.

Melanie & Racci
