Good morning everyone! Thanks for the lively discussion yesterday - Dyana, Jill, Carla, Sienne, Marje and of course Claudia. Sorry I didn't get back to the board last night, had some family drama and after his +4 test last night, I crashed. Tried to test him at midnight, but he was full of it and wanted to play instead. Guess that worked out as my arm was numb as well as my hand so it would have been a poke fest. Can't believe he dropped like that again last night. Guess we have some working juice going on. DH is leaving Sunday for a week, so I am a little nervous as he won't have anyone to interact with during the day. Hopefully the neighbor boy will take care of feeding him/checking on him a couple of times during the day and I'll try to get more testing done at night since he keeps surprising me with these 100 point drops. Silly boy!
Just want to make one comment on the 'ketone' problem that we experienced in April. He was fine the day before (test morning and night) and according to the ER Vet I caught this quickly. The reason he threw ketones is because he was 'not getting enough insulin' and in fact was only on .5u - that's why I say the entire problem was my fault. He has never shown even a trace of Ketones in the 15 months since his dx until that day. He's always shown negative and is back to that since I brought him home.
I appreciate everyone's comments, thoughts, suggestions and help. Have a lot to think about. He's definitely improved on Lev - his whole demeanor has changed and he is happy - but, he does take a long time to settle into a dose - I know that. The other thing I know is that on the Lantus, the higher we went on dose, the higher his BG went. I also do have the 'R' but have only used it once when Jill helped me through that - maybe I should take advantage and use that a little more but it would only have to be on the weekends. I will weigh everyone's suggestions and decide which way to go.
Again thanks everyone! I appreciate it. Wishing good numbers, safe surfs, prayers and healing vines for those that need them, and my heart goes out to those suffering from these storms. Have a great day!
