Wondering if this was another fur shot, or if nadir is finally moving out. Sigh.

Shes being crabby this morning. Shes gotten pretty used to test time, and doesn't mind the shots, but shes been pretty squirmy for both today. She started to wriggle away as soon as I stuck her with the syringe, but I thought I was able to keep her steady enough. Maybe not.

Will check back in another hour.

Also, she has a vet appointment tomorrow - how exactly do you go about telling the vet 'Yeah, I changed her insulin... Yes, you can only get this insulin by prescription... No, you didnt prescribe it to me, and the last place didnt either....'

Shes probably going to think I'm just injecting things into this cat willy nilly, especially since I wasn't keen on buying their super $$$$$ prescription ckd cat food last week.

LOL. I thought you were going to ask the vet for a script on the last visit?

Have you thought about finding a new vet? Good luck at the vet visit.

It's one of two vets in the area. The other place I dont trust at all. The next nearest is like 3 hours away, 6 hours round trip.

That was the plan, but it turned into just a drop off/pick up appointment. I hate those. I didn't get to speak to the doc at all. I told the assistants, but they were like 'Ok, we'll put that in our notes for next time!' Eurgh.

Overall running a little high today =/

I got a beef rump roast and I minced it up to feed to her, just to see if she has any interest in raw feeding.

She seemed to be a fan? At least, she sat down to eat, which she only seems to do when she likes something. I think her bad tooth made it kind of hard to chew, but she ate like, an ounce of it, which is about as much as she eats of the cans I give her in a sitting. I imagine it'll be easier for her to eat once I grind it.

Yes, I know, eating pure meat isnt nutritionally balanced for them, this was just a 'dry run' if you will. I think I'll just bite the bullet and order in some of the supplements. She'll go back to cans until I get the mix in.

Gonna monitor for a bit just to make sure she doesnt puke it up/is queasy, but she's pretty good about holding down new foods, and will eat most things I give her - it's just getting her to eat it more than a few sittings is the rub.

Expect me to be sliding into your DMs with questions soon, @PerfumedCatMom :p

Hit me up, lady! :p You can continue feeding her the plain beef for a little while as a treat, but be careful because I found that once my cats ate raw, they didn't like the canned food so much anymore. Critters know what's good for them!

Tell that to my civvie cat, who's about to read me the riot act over switching her from dry, to wet, and looked like she wanted to straight up unalive me when I set a bowl of raw chunks of beef in front of her. "Ma'am? I think you forgot to cook this??? MA'AM???" :p For a cat that was living outside and (I'm assuming) having to survive off mice for a while, she sure is picky! Gonna see if the vet has any fortiflora in stock tomorrow, maybe that'll get her on board.

Olivia finished all that I gave her initially, though, after an hour, so hopefully the transition goes smoothly.
