I guess he is still getting used to this new/old dose. Whether he is at the dose on the monojects or not I have no idea. Since it looks like 2.5 I think I should probably call it that instead of 2.75.

Have a great Friday.

Re: 6/6 Max AMPS 349

If you are measuring 4.18 with the calipers, then it is 2.75u. You have to ignore the lines. Sometimes my zero lines are so far off on the Terumos that if I looked at it that way, the dose would be 0.25u more than it is. And sometimes the zero line is way above where it should be and it looks like her dose is 0.25u less than it is. Just go by the caliper measurement or you will drive yourself crazy :-D

I bet you are really tired today.

I know he nadired at 56 so let's give him some time to see if he can settle in a little to this dose. But if he keeps bouncing up like this, as much as you test and are at home, if you want I think you could just fine tune the dose a bit to stop the bouncing. It worked before. But first lets see if he can do it on his own as he adjusts to the dose.

Re: 6/6 Max AMPS 349

Hi Marje. Yes, I'm tired. I didn't want to get up when the alarm went off. Of course I was disappointed to see the morning PS. Hopefully this is an adjustment period and he will settle in here for awhile. I'm trying not to let the higher and higher doses scare me since he is getting into better number (we don't count the 470 day). So I will change the ss back to reflect 2.75. Thanks.

Re: 6/6 Max AMPS 349+3.5=370

So I "think" this might be a bounce but I'm not sure.

Wendy commented somewhere that most don't know what a normal BG was for their ca prior to diabetes. Because of Max's other issues (bladder pierced when he blocked once, pancreatitis) I do. So I went back through my records and here is what I found. It's kind of interesting because he was always high normal or higher. He never had glucose in his urine and it was considered elevated due to stress. Here is what I found:
2008: 152
2009: 180.167
2010: 138, 153, 154
2011: 193, 116, 116,137
2012: 198, 188
2013: 167, 171, 113, 238 fructosamine normal, 427 and glucose in urine Diagnosed with diabetes
4/14: 144 but +3 glucose in urine

I just found this kind of interesting.

Yuck Max - time to get over that bounce. Maybe he'll let you sleep tonight Elise.

I have some records for my civie. I've tested him at home at 53 and his most recent vet visits he was 108 and 212. The latter one was a strange vet due to a Sunday emergency (cystitis flair = pain), a longer drive and a male vet. That just tells me he gets major vet stress.

Re: 6/6 Max AMPS 349+3.5=370+6=383PMPS 425

It's amazing what stress can do, isn't it? Since 2008 most of Max's tests were done during pancreatitis attacks.

Re: 6/6 Max AMPS 349+3.5=370+6=383PMPS 425

he had a great night last night (although it sure kept you up!) Today's a bounce, but he'll come down. try not to let the dose size matter to you - it got him into good numbers for about 5 hours last night, which says it's a good dose!

those BG tests are interesting. i would've thought they indicated diabetes. do you think they were high from vet stress?

Re: 6/6 Max AMPS 349+3.5=370+6=383PMPS 425

I do think it was vet stress because his urine never had any glucose in it. At least three vets felt that as well. The one time we ran the fructosamine, a month or so before he was diagnosed it was normal as well. I think the stress of the vet visits and often being sick and in pain from pancreatitis played a role as well. Being so sensitive and afraid also raises his BP. He was always a bit that way but it got worse when his bladder was burst and he was in the hospital for a week when he was five. Then it got even worse when Tiffany got sick. I'll never know for sure but since the tests go back several years, don't you think if he was diabetic then he would have had glucose in his urine and the numbers would have gotten much worse? I think he had the potential but the pancreatitis tipped him into it maybe. He didn't start urinating more until the last year and markedly more in September or October.

Gracies BG always goes way up at the vet.

I hope tomorrow will be a better day for Max.

Re: 6/6 Max AMPS 349+3.5=370+6=383PMPS425+2=389

Thanks, Marje. Looks like we both get more sleep tonight.

i went to bed after the +4 but maybe I shouldn't have. He woke me at 4:0 and I gave him a very little bit of food. He was quiet until 5 or 5:30. Then he wouldn't stop meowing and jumped on the bed a couple of times. I finally got up to test him at 6:35 and his food was still there. He's 113 and I have no idea how low he got last night. I still didn't get enough sleep. Well time to get his baby food, BP med and shoot. More in today's condo.
