Morning and all P's in place except lb which comes later! This is the lowest AMPS for Maggie in two months. I gave Maggie's ear a break and didn't do any checks after the +3 and feel like I missed some greens. Her ear seemed sore, and she kept jerking away when I poked. I started using just the lancet by itself, and I wonder if it's harder on her ear. With the Lancet holder I was constantly adjusting to get a drop of blood and also doing too many pokes. I just can't seem to do the other ear, and she doesn't want it touched. Well, it looks like a nice day so far this morning, not quite 6:00 am yet here, and I've already had two light breakfasts. Have a nice Monday.

Sounds like a very nice morning for you and Maggie.
Sorry she has sore ears and you have trouble with the lancets, hope things get better.

what a great start to maggie's monday morning!

poor ear - wish we had another option. we stay with one ear too - punkin has mastered the art of the Perfectly Timed Ear Flick. He waits til you've got the lancet in place, and just a millisecond later he flicks. right before you click the lancet device. if you're lucky you only click air - unlucky? it got you. :lol:

I think Maggie will surf some nice blues today if my prediction rings true!

Thanks Iorwen, I'm hoping I can apply some Neosporin and give her a break from testing but I don't know with these numbers unless I give her some carbs and keep her steady.

Hi Julie, so cute that punkin has mastered the art of the Perfectly Timed Ear Flick. I think I'd better get the Lancet pen back out and give it another chance. Maggie has a little bump on her ear from where I poke, poor baby.

Morning! Nice start for Maggie this morning. :-D What a joy to see that 107.

I use the lancet freehand too - it is just easier for me. Mannie is very patient with me, sometimes I too get the ear flick thing too... shessh! I've learned to wait a few before I poke, by then he is done ear flicking and we can get down to business. :lol: We too only use one ear... Not to sure why, he just never complains about the one.

Champ is having the same thing going on with his ear being sore. He only likes his right ear poked so that's the one I use. Yesterday, he just didn't want me to poke it, and it did look red. I just kept some Neosporin on it. He actually let me poke his left ear yesterday which tells me how sore his right ear must have been. Of course, the left ear has never learned to bleed so it's not as easy to get a good drop of blood from it. This morning, Champ's right ear looks perfecftly fine so I poked it with no protest from him. Don't you just love Neosporin?!!! Great stuff.

Looks like Maggie is going to give you some good numbers this morning!! Awesome!

Morning Michelle and yes, I was happy with the AMPS; it was lower than her PMPS! One more Lancet user, huh! It just seems easier to aim and poke. Have a nice day.

Hi Patty, yes, I am going to get the ole Neosporin out and pick up a new tube today, too! I've had this one for a while and should check the date. Maggie's left ear won't bleed either and seems very sensitive. I guess the other pokus ear is broken in, so to speak! Have a nice day.

Good morning Ann! We have a sore ear at my house as well. It was a long week of testing and we only have luck with one ear. I too do it free hand. The sounds of the gun scared Tarragon.

Hope Maggie's ears heal fast and you have a great Monday!

I guess the +4 is some of food since Maggie free feeds. I was surprised to see her this low when I came home.

Hi Melissa, it sounds like we have a lot of sore ears with the testing. I just got back and forgot to add Neosporin on my list, and guess who forgot it. Maggie didn't care for the pen I was using either. Hope you and Tarragon are having a nice day.

Poor Maggie and her sore ear, hopefully the neosporin works its magic. Do you use the neosporin with the pain relief? Well after last nights pokefest i am surprised Leo was still letting me poke his same ear. I too tend to use only 1 ear, but he will let me test the other, which is what i've done today. Our poor kitties.

Maggie is having a great cycle, and i hope you girls have a great day!

Thanks Tracy & Leo. Maggie's ear is still looking a little sore. I was hoping I could give it a rest tonight. Yes, I do use the Neosporin with pain relief.

What a lovely day for Miss Maggie and I'm so sorry about her ear!!! We free hand and use very fine lancets and always change ears. We keep a little tablet with L, R, L, R listed and then we put the different tests next to it so we know which ear we poked when. Especially with two of us poking, it helps keep track of it but I swear even when it's just me, I'll forget from time to time which ear I poked. I hope the Neosporin helps her ear pain. Poor baby girl!!

Hi Marje, thanks and her numbers have really improved since the dental. She's also on another food that she seems to really like. I'm using the ReliOn Lancets, #25 Thin. I tried the #30 Very thin Lancets but could not get a drop of blood. That's a good idea to write down which ear. I think if I can poke the other ear and give this one a rest, it would heal in no time.

Nice numbers for Maggie again today! I love that she and Tinkles had matching AMPS this morning. :smile: I hear you on the ears....I only use one ear with Tinkles, but I poke both edges, so that helps to spread it out a little. Have a good night, Ann!

Hi Laurie, thanks for stopping by, and yes, neat on the matching AMPS. I was hoping to give Maggie a break from the pokies, so I just gave her some FF turkey & giblets which she loves, and it will keep her from dropping.

Moonie has the sore ear club membership too-bump on the top--We use Neosporin so much,
It is good as it also lubricates the ear while killing the pain! What great stuff!
