Gizmo is 12 years old and was diagnosed in the beginning of Feb. 2017. I have been a member of the site since then, but never posted any of his information. Now, since his numbers are still high, I'm just looking for advice. I created a spreadsheet, but not sure of how to post it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think I fixed the spreadsheet.
What you can do to make your spreadsheet link even cleaner is put Gizmo SS in your signature. Then you open the current link you have posted and right click that in your web brower like you're going to copy/paste. Hilight the Gizmo SS and click the chain link and paste the really long link and that makes it night and short. Spread sheets are kept in your signature. Everyone opens a new condo daily and in the beginning of each post we put Yesterday and do the same like you did for your spreadsheet, open the day before condo, copy the long link etc etc.

Thanks everyone. I think I am going to contact his vet in the morning to see if I should increase his dose. We at least seem to be on the right track since switching to lantus. I will try to fix the spreadsheet link.

Did you read the stickies on the top of this forum about the 2 protocols we follow, SLGS or TR?

I was able to see the SS before but now it says I have to request access?

I have read the info on SLGS & TR. My vet seems to increase the dose by 1 unit at a time. I don't know if that is what is best for Gizmo or not. Please let me know if my spreadsheet is viewable now.

Yes, I can see the SS again. Going up by 1u is way too aggressive and you might pass the right dose. Too much insulin can look like not enough. I hope some of the pros here chime in, but I know for sure 1u increases are not advised for any kitty that is under 10u. @Wendy&Neko will hopefully see this thread. If you put the "?" in front of your title, more folks will take a look at your SS and give advice: Go to thread tools at the top of your thread and click on "change title" and then drop down "prefix", you will see the "?"

I can only speak to my experience.
My vet started Fergus on 2 units. It was crazy after reading this site how dangerous that can be, especially since my vet said don't check sugars and come back in 2 weeks.

I think if you are comfortable going up by a whole unit, that going up slowly to get there is also and option, like in TR and SLGS. Everyone here has been through this.

As a nurse I would consider this site a resource because it is based on Evidence Based Practice. My vet, even with giving me that 2 unit to start dose, told me to check this site out. Obviously, they know about diabetes, but have to care for a myriad of diagnosis in their practices. These folks know their stuff.

Every Cat Is Different, but my Fergus could be dead had I continued the 2 units with no testing.

These folks are an island in a storm. They are based on sound research and evidence. My advice: Trust them.
