I don't think it's an emergency, I certainly don't feel as nervous as I did with Buca's numbers last night....Just "checking in" for some of your expert thoughts ;)

Much more confident in handling his numbers tonight, though. Getting better at recognizing what I'm supposed to look for and getting comfortable with those lower numbers, because they don't feel as low anymore lol ....

He dipped down a bit today into a better range and was pretty steady.... he seems to have a big drop around the +4 in the am, and in the evenings for a few hours. I gave him some gravy to slow him down , just like last night, but took it slow and took lots of readings between teaspoons. Would it have been ok to push it to see if he would go a little lower before giving him the gravy food?

I might not have to be up as late tonight lol... but I will set my alarm and test him a few times during the night just to make sure he's still good.

You're doing a great job with steering the numbers!! You're clearly a fast learner and I love that you're feeling more confident.

Here are my thoughts.... When I was first learning, I tested about every 15 - 20 min. if I thought numbers were dropping. In retrospect, what that did was give me a good feel for how Gabby's body responded to HC, when numbers were dropping quickly, etc. In other words, it helped me to learn her patterns and when there were deviations from those patterns. As I became more confident, I could test less often. Now, if her numbers are dropping, I'm usually able to test every 30 min. The critical factor is you knowing your cat and how Buca responds to carbs, whether drops are big and fast, more gradual, etc. Aside from the mantra of "every cat is different" (ECID), the other truism is to know your cat.
