I'm so sorry Jenn! Poor Tidus!

I know you're really upset right now and hate to bring this up, but it is very important that you keep absolute sanitary conditions when you leave the room he's in to go see the other cats (& dogs). It would be a good idea to keep bleach by the door to the bathroom (maybe a bag hanging on the door for clothes on both sides) for your shoes and legs or take off your pants so the other cats don't purr on your legs and to change clothes when you leave that room. You don't want to spread it.

Please update us as soon as possible.

I'm trying to keep contamination contained as best I can, however we live in a very small place so that is much harder to do.

I need to get a stool sample to test and was not able to do so today because he didn't go until 6pm this evening (after my vet was closed) In hindsite I should have made the vet get a stool sample but now it will have to wait until tomorrow.

He is doing much better and his poop was more formed (less "pudding" like than it was this morning) I gave him subQ fluids 100ml although he was in much better shape this morning when I woke up. He is sleeping the majority of the day. Uses the litter box with no issues and his appetite is good. No vomiting.

I will check his BG later tonight and post just to keep gathering data.

Sending Tidus healing vines. You might PM Beth about all you need to do to completely quarantine him because panleukopenia is extremely hardy and easily transmitted. Do they have to have a stool sample to diagnose?

I hope you get an answer soon. He's in the best hands!!!

Marje- I have been in contact with Beth and she has been doing all the worrying for me. I don't have the ideal living situation (most of us probably don't for something like this) to keep Tidus in 100% quarantine. Luckily my cats are all up to date with vaccines and have gotten them for years. Yes the stool sample test is the only "authorized" test that confirms it 100%. You can use the test for dog parvo to confirm pano. in cats but it's not an "approved" way to test.

Carolyn- SubQ fluids look like an IV in that you have a bag of fluid with a line with a needle at the end. The difference is the needle just goes in/under the skin not in a vein. Prior I had only "heard" about it at the shelter I volunteered for we didn't really do that kind of stuff. I only had one friend who had to give SubQ to her cat. She was a nurse so I figured that's why her vet allowed her to do it, but it's super easy as long as the cat sits still.
