Just got back from taking civie Otis to the vetty for his annual check-up. He is sleek and lean, doesn`t look underweight to me, so I was surprised to learn that he had lost a kilogram since his checkup last year. The vet says he looks healthy and energetic, heart, lungs, eyes, ears, teeth look great, and he doesn`t appear to be underweight, but I had them take blood work and urinalysis to make sure there were no hidden issues. He gets a lot of exercise chasing, or being chased, by Coco up and down the many stairs in this place. His appy is great, but I told the vet he is now on a wet diet, no dry food at all. Paws crossed that all is well with my boy.

Lulu tested in the blues this morning, hoping for some green today (day 3 of fattened dosage).

Come on down Lulu. It's time to out o. Your green dress. Dry food does have more carbs so hopefully that's the reason for the weight loss. My vet put my sister's dog on a special diet dry food and he lost a little but not enough for my liking but he seems happy.

Thanks for the nice words about Otis. I know it`s not diabetes, I poked him and he`s normal, no huge pee clumps or excessive drinking. Pretty sure it`s just the change in diet from that yucky dry stuff to all wet. But I have to be sure there are no other issues, so I requested the lab tests.

Changing to an all wet food diet is a good way to reduce a little extra weight, if they have it. In my mind, there is no such thing as a true "diet" dry food. Getting labs done will give you peace of mind, plus then you'll have a base line. Something I wish I'd done for Neko.

Just tried to get a +8, error message - not enough blood. I`ll try again in an hour.

I adopted Otis from the Humane Society last year, and I`m pretty certain he was on a dry diet there and who knows what when he was a stray. After all I`ve learned on this site, I will NEVER feed a cat a dry food diet again.

Glad to see Lulu in the green. Lizzy, our civie has lost a little bit of weight d/t being switched to canned from dry, though she still needs a dry food fix twice a day (only about 1/8 cup). I hope to have her on a completely wet diet soon!

Must be. She`s dropped a bit more. I have plans to hike in the mountains tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday, so hoping she doesn`t drop any further. I always fill Otto when I`m away, but it`s not much fun when worrying about Lulu.

Lulu`s dropping and I`m supposed to get up at 5 a.m. to go hiking. Going to keep testing every hour and not going to bed until she starts to rise or stays steady. At least I`m not the driver out to the mountains this time around.

It must be a combination of Canada Day and a full moon tomorrow...both our kitties are practising their dives tonight. Lulu be a good girl and don't keep your momma up all night like Tuxie is doing!!

Holy cow, Tuxie, he really did take a dive! Lulu still dropping, so another test in an hour. I have LC food out for her, so hoping she levels out or rises a bit. I will be dragging my butt up the trails tomorrow, and my poor hiking buddies will have to listen to me whine about my kitty's BG dropping.
