It's clearly hairball season at my house! The good news is that Gabby got out of bed this morning before yakking up today's deposit. What a good girl! Interestingly, Gizmo is the long hair kitty and he grooms Gabby all the time and he doesn't seem to have an issue with hairballs.

Re: 6/30 Gabby AMPS~157

She is on a hairball roll!! My vet has a new(er) product called Capilex that is supposed to be really good for hairballs. It works differently by breaking down the hairball (or the food that is caught in the hairball) rather than lubricating things. She said they all tested it on their own cats and were happy with the results. It is a treat. From what I can tell, it is currently only available at vets' offices and is apparently a little pricey. I'm going to see if I can get a sample to try with my hairballers Noah and Petey some time this week. I'm curious about it...

Have a great day, Sienne!

Oh yuck on the hairballs, but it's probably worse for her.

That Capilex sounds interesting, but I looked it up and it's $1 a day! there was a post from one of the developers on the Catsite Also an interesting discussion on egg yolks that might work about the same way!

Sounds like Gizmo has a more efficient digestive system than Gabby.

I looked up Capilex, too, and found this list of ingredients:
Vegetable oil, maltodextrin, croscarmellose sodium, flavor, microcrystalline cellulose, lecithin, sodium acid pyrophosphate, bromelain.
I plan to ask my vet about it next time I talk to her. Minka has some nasty hairballs.

Gabby appears to think this is a good day for a dip in the lagoon. I hope she surfs safely for you, Sienne.
