Trix seems to be doing well this morning....happy appy, snuggly, spunky, peeing well, breathing well. But that AMBG...ugh. I see that diabetes is a potential side-effect of lasix....so I guess this could knock her out of remission. We'll see.

Civvie Zen is a bit off today. I suspect he is responding to my stress...it seems that any time we have one of these events, he gets off. I'm trying to not show my stress, but no doubt he can sense it.

I feel like I did when she first started insulin and when we first got the news that her kidneys were so bad...I just want to stare at her to make sure things are OK. I'm sure that feeling will settle out...but right now my head feels like it's going to explode. I did sleep OK last night, only because I had no choice...virtually no sleep the night before so my body wasn't going to allow that again.

I am seriously bummed about cancelling out of the bead show, and I don't think the show promoters were too happy with me, either. I told them it was a family emergency, but didn't mention that the family member was a cat - I don't know how sympathetic they would have been. I'm desperate to get this business up and running but for the last year and a half, since we closed the store, it has been one roadblock after another. I just can't focus when I'm under this kind of stress, and it just plain sucks.

With that...time to go stare at Trixie some more. Prayers to all, and thank you all again for all the support....

Amy

When Max had tge fluid that was drained I was told he needed to start eating within three days. So this is very encouraging for a Trixie. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thanks, Elise. Trix's appy has been decent for a while, even through all the ABs and urinary issues. It's actually kind of odd...the last couple months, since she's had all the ABs, her appy has picked up (not like it was in her youth, but generally much better and more consistent then it had been for a while) and she's virtually stopped the empty-tummy tummy acid spit ups (used to be a couple times a week; now I can't remember when she last did it).

I'm sorry y'all are going through this :(

Do you have an online store set up for your work? (Like Etsy or something.) I'd love to take a look :)
I do have an Etsy shop...here's the link (I originally set it up right after Trix was diagnosed with FD; at that point, I still co-owned the brick-n-mortar bead store and needed to supplement my income a bit to help pay for her supplies, hence the shop's name) :
Trixie's Jewel Box on Etsy

On Etsy (and at beads shows, too), I primarily make and sell jewelry making components out of metal clay (metal clay particles, binder, water - sculpt, fire in a kiln, solid metal after firing!), but I also have a little bit of jewelry, Czech glass beads, and a couple of my bead-weaving kits there as well.

Oh Amy I can so relate I spend a great amount of time staring at Fritz . His breathing is not always the greatest.
Love the name of your Esty shop!!!
Sure hope everything works out for the kitties!:bighug::bighug::bighug:

I know Lasik can reduce the effectiveness of insulin but not sure about how much it affects those off insulin. How many mg is she getting and is it pill or liquid? There could be sugar in it. On the other hand, Benazepril (like Enalapril) has a moderate interaction with insulin that may cause low sugar levels. Doodles maintenance dose was 60mg a day and sometimes we had to do therapeutic triple dosing reaching upward of 120mg for 3 days. Somehow his kidneys remained healthy so that's a big difference. My boy continued to eat until the very end luckily. Did they also tell you to take her resting heart rate? When she's sleeping, count the breaths and make sure they are under 30 per minute. All I did for a year was stare at Doodles, count his breaths, and lived in a complete paranoid state. Try to enjoy her, play, pet, cuddle etc. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm sorry about the bead show this weekend but there will be more.

I'm glad Trixie is eating for you and breathing well. I hope the lasix helps. Just try to make the most of each moment and not worry about tomorrow. I know that is easier said than done. Sending prayers.

Hugs Amy :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: It's so hard not to hoover when there is a new DX. Remembering how I stalked Bubba constantly when he was first diabetic.

I too am sorry about the bead show as I was so wanting to meet you but, I am confident that it will happen soon. Taking care of Trixie right now is all that matters. :):cat:

She's on a teeny dose - 6.25mg once a day, and it's a pill. He wanted to start her very slowly because of her kidneys...very tricky balancing act.

Yes, he did mention the RR as well.

I've been paranoid about her for years now....all this just adds a fresh new level. I'm spending a lot of time talking myself down...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Hi again, Amy,
I'm glad to read that Trix is doing so much better. I hope the Lasix works and that she will settle in to her good numbers and to feeling her good, normal self again.
I looked at your Etsy shop (hadn't visited it in years). Those pieces are so interesting and stunning. I'm sorry you had to skip the bead show.

Have a good, relaxing evening. Trixie is doing her best.

Hugs and scritches,

I found with Neko that new meds would occasionally impact her BG, but only for a few days until her body learned how to work with it. Same with the Lasix. She was on a tiny amount every other day, but it was a liquid.

The RR that Karen suggested is a really good one to do. I did it every day when Neko was snoozing. If it increased, not necessarily over 30, but over her normal, then time for a vetty call. Neko's normal was around 20 or even under, but when it went up to 26 she was getting fluid in her lungs again. Note that what is normal for a cat is ECID. Even after her first heart diagnosis, Neko's was lower than civie Theo's, so don't try comparing to the civies.

Tons of vines flowing your way. :bighug:

Thank you, everyone, for your continued support and guidance. It means the world to us.

And thank you for visiting my Etsy shop! I really enjoy making the components....I really enjoy making jewelry, too, but I just have not had the time nor ability to focus on that scale....

Trixie still seems to be "normal Trixie" tonight...I'm not seeing anything out of the ordinary: breathing is good; eating is decent (I was pretty impressed with her first round of dinner); snuggling at the usual level, etc. She did have one pee today that was clearly not comfortable, but it wasn't as bad as she was dealing with the other night. All other pees seemed fine.

Civvie Zen is back on track as well.

@Wendy&Neko - I hope that's the case with Trix as far as the meds go. I cannot even imagine adding insulin back into the mix....I would probably never ever sleep again!
