Checking in late after a long day... Had to have the car at the shop by 8 to get the brakes done before our trip. Busy day at tbp with a new project, then tonight was water the plants, unpack, play with Willie and then play travel agent for my family. Willie got some new toys from a friend of mine as a housewarming gift and he seems to be enjoying them quite a bit! Will have him work on his thank you note tomorrow!

Got a new passenger on the Iowa trip. My cousin's 14 year old is going to fly to KC then drive to Iowa. She and my mom are very close (her grandma, my mom's sister, died of cancer 4 years ago), and she's the oldest of 4, so she gets stuck with ALOT of babysitting. She was supposed to ride up with one of my other uncles and my granny, but she'd have gotten in on Thursday and had to leave on Sunday. This gives her at least a full week, maybe longer if she wants. She's a very sweet girl, so I'm excited to have her along for the ride! Also means I can have DS in the backseat with Willie and not look like Driving Miss Daisy and Her Cat! He calms down a bit if riding in her lap, but I'm always uncomfortable with him in the front seat. I drive a small SUV, and with the airbag positioning, if it were to deploy, well....

I have to admit, a teeny part of my late posting was the disappointment with Willie's AM numbers... I was thinking "here we go...back up the ladder." Apparently, I don't have quite the wonderful perspective i'd like to believe I have!   Apparently a bit of bounce or NDW, and he's back surfing the 60s! We'll take it! He got some nice outside time tonight, helping me water the flowers, which I think helped. Otherwise, he's been his usual furry purry self. No harness/lead tonight. We experimented with that last night, and he did surprisingly well. Will put it on him while traveling and make sure one of us beans has the lead at all times so he can't make an ess-cape, and can accompany DS on her smoke breaks. Plus, we'll be able to spend time in the yard while on the farm. My parents' home is nestled into the valley of the old river bluff, completely surrounded by woods on 3 sides. Their backyard is bordered by a small stream, flowing into a good sized creek (pronounced "crick," and looks like what they'd call a river here in Missouri!!), and then into the Mississippi a couple miles away by my brother's place. It's very picturesque, but I can totally see Willie heading (literally) for the hills, getting himself lost, then crying for a rescue because suddenly he's hungry. meanwhile, I'm traipsing through the timber in 90 degree temperatures, getting eaten alive by god knows what kinds of insects. Harness it is!!!

Okay, off to bed for us. Bean has a headache and the muscle relaxer is kicking in!!

Ni ni, all!

some how i've missed all your moving adventures! and now you're off on a trip - but happy little willie gets to go too! that's awesome. and your cousin - i'm about to head off to guatemala with 2 14 year old girls (twins) - that's a pretty sweet age. not little girls, not too sassy . . . should be perfect.

i can only imagine the fun of having the kitty escape while visiting in a foreign land! the leash seems like a good thing!
