It's another beautiful day here which makes me automatically feel better. I love hot sunny days & would keep it summer and spring all year long if I had my way. I guess that's why I lived in So. FL & No. CA for so long. I moved here (VA) to be with the kids.This has been a good year though. We had a mild winter thankfully. :smile:

Racci is feeling good today also and ate well, pooped, took meds without a fight & hung out with me all morning. She's taking a nap at my feet now with her nanner under her head. Such a cutie pie! Her fur is growing back so fast from the haircut! She is now at the thick and wooly stage and her belly is still short but very thick & curly, while the rest of her is getting longer also again and starting to tangle if not brushed at least once a day. Racci hates being brushed so this is always a challenge. I did a good job on part of her last night and need to work on the other side today. I'll see if her good mood holds out long enough to let me do a good job on her fur today. :smile:

I hope all kitties and their beans are well today and enjoying the summer weather. Be careful not to stay in the heat too long!

Racci's +8.5 bg # was after a meal. I can't believe how high she goes right after a meal from such a low number and then goes back down again. I didn't realize she was going that high right after meals. Interesting.

Can you try to get some tests in earlier in the cycle after Racci eats? I'm curious if the food spike that you saw at +8.5 is consistent with how Racci's numbers play out before nadir. She may get that big spike due to there being less insulin available to counteract the food when you give her a snack that late in the cycle.

I know you're limited with testing at night but can you do whatever you can to get a test in even if it's early in the PM cycle. I don't want Racci to miss a reduction and I want to be sure she's in safe numbers.

Hi Sienne,

I think it's too late already, sorry. We're having brown-outs & I keep losing electricity. I just saw your note and it's just +3 now. Both of us fell asleep. I usually feed her before I go to bed, about now so I could try it and see but sometimes she''s already at nadir or near it at this time. I'll try to get her to eat now.

Hi Sienne,

You were right about it being late in the cycle I think. When I tried to recreate it now at +3, it didn't work. She only was up 7 points from before. I've also fed her and tested several times before without her being so high.

I have a feeling she's going to go low tonight, maybe in about 2 hours, unless she is having a nadir now which seems unlikely at 110. DH usually wakes at about +6-7 and feeds her but I think she will go low before then. Hopefully she'll wake me if she needs to. She has been doing that. I know I'm not going to last tonight. I've been nodding off on the couch. The electricity keeps going off so setting a clock is senseless.
 
Hope racci's good mood lasted through a brushing and she's giving u a chance to get a good night's sleep. Interesting re the food thing. If she insists on a snack late in the cycle can u go any lower in carbs ?

I thought it was interesting too. I've done this before without her going so high. She was eating only 2% carbs so can't go any lower. I'm wondering if it was because of the thunder storms? I didn't think of it before but we've been having bad thunder storms. Thunder makes her very nervous.

She did allow me to brush her pretty well btw. :smile: There are still a couple of spots she really hates me doing (her back legs) that need some concentrating on but for the most part she's nice and smooth and ready for light brushing again. Yay! That's the nice thing about these haircuts, it's the only time of year I can get away with light brushing at least some of the time. Having one with long thick fur, I'm sure you know what I mean. :lol:
