Racci had a good morning. All p's were taken care of and her usual large morning appetite was in place. She had 3 breakfasts & a poop, shared my cream cheese on rye toast, took most of her meds without a problem but when she decided she needed the LB, that was the end of meds, so I still have some to chase her around with. :YMSIGH:

I had a bad night and didn't sleep. I finally fell into a deep sleep about 6am and DH woke me at 8am to show me a dead songbird. One of the baby thrush had flown into the glass door in spite of the appliques! I'm so upset! The poor baby just didn't know better. It looked like it's neck was broken. I was glad it wasn't one of my old timer friends though.

I had planned to go to the pool to lie in the sun and read but now I may just stay in the backyard since I'll probably fall asleep & won't have anyone to wake me for Racci there. I'll just go to the pool tomorrow instead. Well ttyl. I'm off to go outside.

Healing and strength to Roni, Lyresa & Celi and all others in LL who need it either mentally or physically, especially the furbabies.

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

I guess Racci is not going green today. I'm wondering if something was wrong with her shot this morning. After I gae it I wondered. It didn't feel right. hmm. She's higher than normal but not surer high either so hard to say.

Melanie, It could have been the cream cheese & toast? You were kidding right?
Some days they just surf the blues, no rhyme or reason...It doesnt look like she missed any of the shot..
Not to worry, just one day, tomorrow will be better!
So Sorry about the Thrush--We also feed the birds and have had many fatalities...Know how you feel!!
Hope tomorrow Racci comes down--Hugs & Love from us!

Hi Roni,

I know she's not high enough to have had a real missed fur shot and there were no wet spots on her fur when I shot her but somehow it didn't feel right and her pattern of going up with no downs is as if it was missed. It could be as you said though just one of those days.

I wasn't kidding. Racci shares my breakfast with me everyday. I have cream cheese on rye or pumpernickel toast and fresh berries or yogurt and Racci is in love with cream cheese so I have to take some off my toast for her on my finger a few times and she licks it off every day or if I'm having yogurt she eats some from my spoon. Racci's my 'taster' She always comes running when I have my breakfast. It's a daily routine.

The baby bird makes me so sad. We have so many birds that come to be fed and the thrush are new. The couple showed up with a baby the same size almost as them but still being fed by mom, and still with some spotted baby feathers a couple of weeks ago. They were so cute as they went from dish to dish looking for the perfect seeds to feed the baby and then the mom stuck her beak all the way down the baby's throat to feed it and the dad would stand guard and then they would move to another dish. Anyway, I guess the baby struck out on her own & didn't know about glass. I would have really been miserable though if it was one of my regulars that I've known for years that was hurt or killed. Well I'm sure you know what I mean since you feed them too. They're so cute and each have their own personality when you get to know them. I just realized that I don't even know where a wildlife rescue is in the area. I better figure that out just in case I ever need it.

I hope you're feeling well today. I saw Moonie's beautiful numbers the past few days but didn't get a chance to check today yet. I hope they're green.

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

Know what you mean by the regulars--The birds here come back every year to the same trees in to have their babies..Sometimes the babies try to fly too soon, but we are lucky this year, no hurt babies..Last year we had the attack of the Mockingbirds, a mom trying to protect her nest got me, DH & the poor Mailman    --Love the birdies, been feeding them pounds a year of birdseed for 20 yrs..
Claiming them as dependents on our taxes    We feed all year round!
Check the carbs in cream cheese-not sure, could there be a bit??? Definitely carbs in the rye bread!-see how much..
Hugs & Lubs from us

I feed year round also! DH swears I'm the only one and I shouldn't! Now I can tell him you do it too. So true about claiming them as dependents! I spend a fortune on them! My birds also love peanuts so I buy them roasted, unsalted peanuts and they've become quite spoiled. They wait for those peanuts now & don't want to eat the other seeds until the peanuts are gone. I'll sit outside and break the shells for them and they urge me on waiting. It's so funny how excited they get when I'm cracking the shells! They keep up this steady stream of chatter in the two trees that are practically right on my deck singing and talking to each other and me while I'm doing it and when I stand up finished, they suddenly go silent and watch me intently as I put it out in feeders and dishes for the big and little ones. Then I go back inside to take care of Racci. She's usually sitting right by the screen door watching the whole thingg waiting for the birdies to fly down where she loves to watch them. Most of my birds live here year round. I have great pictures of them here in the snow.

I don't havee to worry about the carbs in the brea because Racci doesn't eat it. She only eats the cream cheese off my fingers. I'm sure it has some but I decided to not take it from her. She's getting green anyway & loves to sit and eat with mommy. She just doesn't eat enough to make a stink about and deprive her of that time with me. I'll have to check out of curiosity though.

Hugs!
