Thanks Bron. I will remember now it is 2 hours . Might need to avoid being at home at that time.It is best not to give food for the 2 hours preshot but it looks like you took a BG before the food and got 229 so you know it was a shootable number and it went up to 247 at PMPS.
Looks like she might be coming off the bounce.
It’s a bit hard when we are at home though.
Oh I meant Not to give her food 2 hours before insulin. Work days are fine but when I am at home, she will keep asking for food. Why is it harder when you're at home?
I kept some zero carb snacks around if Neko insisted I give snacks. Or during the day, I'd try to feed a bit around +9 or +9.5, to keep her going until dinner. Her nadir was sometimes around then too.
I'm not sure what you have in Australia. Kangaroo is a bit higher carb protein, by just a percent or two, than some other proteins. As Bron said, as long as you test before giving the snack, it was fine to feed. The no feeding for two hours before preshot is guidance we give new members. Once you understand how much food will bring them up, you have a better idea whether or how much her preshot numbers are inflated by food, so you can figure out if it's safe to shoot.
If Luci is driving me crazy within that time frame, I'll give her one or two pieces of freeze dried chicken or salmon...that usually keeps her quiet until test time...otherwise I'll feed her around 3:00 or 3:15 which is just outside of the two hour time frame for us...you'd probably have to set an alarm to remind you to take up any leftovers though. Just some suggestions...
Thanks Sue. Setting an alarm is a good idea. I can try to feed her around 3:30pm and usually that’s fine to last her till 6pm insulin time.If Luci is driving me crazy within that time frame, I'll give her one or two pieces of freeze dried chicken or salmon...that usually keeps her quiet until test time...otherwise I'll feed her around 3:00 or 3:15 which is just outside of the two hour time frame for us...you'd probably have to set an alarm to remind you to take up any leftovers though.
