Trixie's appy is definitely not where I want it to be today...my little glutton has gone back into hiding  . Part of me wonders if it's because I bought some fresh cans of food and it's a different lot/different taste issue. I'm trying to keep her with just 3 foods: Fancy Feast Classic Chicken, Purina One Classic Chicken (which is strictly for her assist feedings), and Purina One Turkey. The turkey is the one I just replenished. Last week, she was devouring it, now, she's really not all that interested. At the same time, she is asking for food, so that makes me wonder if she's just not happy with this batch. I'm afraid that if I introduce any further flavors, we'll end up with even more finickiness. I use the phos binder when I can, but sometimes she won't touch food with the binder in it. Could be coincidence...who knows, she's a cat after all! Maybe she just thought I was getting too comfy...
So the "weaning off the syringe feedings" has been back burnered. I was back up to 4 syringes yesterday, and at the rate things are going, it will probably be the same today. At least I'm able to get the calories into her that way, but needless to say, I'd rather she want to eat on her own, even if "on her own" means MamaBean holding the plate. Fortunately she doesn't fight the syringe...she gets a little fussy, but her accepting of it tells me she's hungry and wants the food.
I have witnessed normal poops the last few days (boy, she was being stealthy about her LB activities for a while there!), no vomitting, and I don't think she's nauseated because she's getting her pepcid and cerenia (every other day on the cerenia). So, I don't know...I guess it's just part of the ups and downs that we're probably always going to have now.
As always, if it ain't one thing....
Since last evening, Petey has taken all his meals in the family room with everyone else, rather than demanding bathroom room service. Phew! I'd like to see him eat more, too, but to me now it seems more like "summertime appy" than whatever it was that was bothering him last week/earlier this week. Next week, I hope to find out if my vet has a sample of that Capilex hairball treatment to try out with him and Noah.
Staycation is almost here! I think it will be much less stressful when I don't have to leave for work on days like today when I just want to keep an eye on things at home. Too bad staycation can't last forever...although when staycation is over Trix will probably appreciate me not having the ability to helicopter 24/7.
Have a great day, LL!
