An AMPS of 93 is lower than what we usually shoot, but I'm reluctant to keep bouncing Boris around. So we shot. We won't know how he reacts with lower numbers unless we shoot them. We are home all day, so I guess we will see what his numbers do when he's starting out with a lower BG.

I guess we'll just run a curve today to make sure he's doing alright.

I hope everyone else is having a great day!

Nice! we all have to learn to shoot lower at some point ;)

It's perfect that you're home to monitor and I think it would be a great opportunity to get an idea of how Boris reacts when you shoot low :)

Good Luck :D

Congratulations on shooting your first green! It's exciting!! How's he doing? Please be sure to get as many tests as you can throughout the day as it looks like he hits his low numbers between 4+ and 8+ - hopefully he'll stay in those nice greens - it'll be a good day to see how he works the juice :)

I'm planning to do every 2 unless I see him dip into the greens more. That sound reasonable?

He's his usual self so far. I made more room on my office desk last night, and now 2 of the cats are camping out on the desk! He's a little miffed right now that George has taken his window spot! LOL

GORGEOUS CATS! They will clear your desk for you :D LOL - My Luci has taken to laying on every surface in my house - dressers, counters, tables - I just don't know what's up with her - if something is in her way she just leans back on it until it falls off in the floor...in her mind it's all HER space...and my stuff can just get out of HER way...breaking or whatever...she doesn't care...

Every hour or less if the numbers are dropping - on some days I have to check Luci (famous for her dives into low numbers) every half hour! Most days I have to check her hourly as long as she's going down - some days she tries to trick me (like yesterday)...she went up and then decided to make a quick dive into the lagoon...she's a really smarty pants like that... Take a look at our SS and you'll see what I mean...I can't trust her not to do something silly. You'll get to know what to expect as time goes by (well maybe, I never know what Luci's going to do)...only if she's high and stays there will I stop testing her...hope this is helpful:bighug:

SO many Handsome Boys!!! Your cats are so so cuuuute!!!

I think your strategy for testing sounds logical ;)

Nyx and Mowgli have also been fighting for the bedroom window lately ... this pic looks nice but Nyx is literally growling at Mowgli for even having a peek

Hey Amanda, those guys need some more furniture over there by that window - how's about one of those nice narrow tables like you put behind the sofa??? (joking...but sometimes I think these cats run the house when you start buying furniture for them you'll know it's true)...:joyful::joyful::joyful:

Aren't they gorgeous? My old neighbors threw George out when he started spraying the house - they never had him neutered. I brought him in when he was 8 1/2 pounds, just skin and bones (he's 14 lbs now). Had him fixed, fed him up, and he's the most lovey dovey rub-my-belly cat you'll ever meet! The neighbors were happy to sign him over to me since he was just an inconvenience to them. Boris showed up a few years later on my back porch in the dead of winter, all beat up. We thought he tangled with another animal, but now we know he was most likely hit by a car (he has a crushed femur neck on the right back leg and a ripped ear). I got him doctored up (stitched, snipped, and chipped), brought him inside, litter box trained him (thank GOD he learned), and he's just a mellow fluff ball now. We also have Tazz, Scott's SPCA kitty who lives up to his name. Every. DAY. It's crazy around here but we love it!

And no flat surface is safe around here!

I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks!

Congrats on shooting this morning. Gorgeous!

Thanks! I'm nervous, but we'll get through it!

Thanks! We are blessed with our beautiful boys! :joyful:

Oh boy! Be nice to your brother and share, Nyx... none of that growling!

WHAAAAAATTTT???? How cruel :( Cats are not disposable...grrrrrr..

Thank heaven you were able to provide a good caring home - he's darling and deserves a warm safe and happy home - not to be with someone who thinks he's an inconvenient!

I know! It breaks my heart to think of how he was turned out! I had been nursing my feline leukemia kitty Winnie through her last days, and I kept hearing him meowing pitifully outside their house. I tried to go find him a bunch of times, but he kept running from me. After Winnie died, I found him rummaging through the neighbor's garbage, and he was finally ready to let me care for him. I was heartbroken at losing Winnie so young (she was 2 1/2), and I was more than happy to bring in this bedraggled, starving little boy and love him. I couldn't fix Winnie, but I was able to fix him!

Makes me tear up just thinking about it!

Good job shooting this morning. Are you able to get any night time tests in? Last night it would have been interesting to see what he did. Your cats are lucky to have you.

+4 of 100. Keep your cool, Bobiwan... don't go TOO low!

We haven't been testing overnight recently. I do try to get in some overnight tests on the weekends if I can though. I'm sure it would be illuminating!

Good for you. Typically the lower you shoot, the flatter the cycle. Looks like Boris might be doing the same. :) Great opportunity to gather some data.

Many, probably most, cats go lower at night. You might want to get in the habit of getting at least a "before bed" test in at night. We determine how to change the dose based on the lows, so it's important to know what's happening at night.

That's been the plan, but we recently moved things around in our schedule, so are still figuring out how to balance it all.

LOL you're right! we DO need more furniture for the cats to fight over in the bedroom LOL

We actually plan to eventually put a window seat under this window... but there is a vent that needs to be redirected so we aren't in a hurry to get it done.

+6 92

I have to say... George is SO cute... but at the same time... he looks like he's seen some **** ;)

I think he had a pretty tough life over there. Both parents are alcoholics, and they were always yelling... constantly. At each other, the kids, the dog, and I'm sure, George. Now that I know George's personality, I know that he does best in an environment without chaos. Calm, peace, and serenity, as well as routine, are his jam. That makes him happy! He'd be happiest as an only cat, but he tolerates the others well enough. Occasionally I find him snuggling with Tazz, so it can't be ALL bad to have brothers! :cat:

Okay, finally got the title updated... been a busy evening!

Boris's PMPS was 98, and we went ahead and shot anyway. His +2 was 96, so I guess we will be checking him intermittently throughout the night. Good thing I'm off tomorrow!

+6 is 43.

Lucky for him it’s meal time! That was a bit of a scary number!

He (and his brothers) were all perky and ready for food. I’ll check him again in a little bit.
