Took Yoyo to Vet this afternoon as he is having issues while eating. While eating he favors his left side and tries to clear his cheeks of food which is sometimes followed by gagging. Vet took blood, checked teeth, checked jaws, checked for growths. She feels that it could be a cracked lower tooth on his left side because when she touched it he moved his tail and grinded his teeth. I have been hearing him grind his teeth but I am not sure that this tooth is the issue. I went home with pain medicine to see if the mouth movements stop and if the grinding stops while using the pain meds. If it doesn't, then it may be something else. Time will tell us more. Just another thing on my list to worry about.

I am impressed with Yoyo's BG numbers this afternoon - he was so patient at the vet and great in the car ride totalling about 3 hours away from home. What a good boy he is:cat:

Hope all kitties are doing well and playing safe:cool::D:)

Hi Debra.... awe Yoyo you are such a good baby-boy :cat:
Debra, do you have any board certified Dental Vets... near you? Definitely sounds like issue my gut be resolved by a specialist. I’m just sayin- :)

I hope the tooth turns out to be nothing. I’m amazed that you noticed he was preferring once side for chewing... I don’t think I’d notice something like that - Go you ;)

Hopefully the pain meds help.

Feel better soon Yoyo :)

I think that is an excellent idea but I don't believe there is a Bd certified dentist in my area. I'll do some research, thank you for the good advise. Many thanks!:bighug:

Yoyo is not a good eater and with the insulin he must eat...so I have to sit with him at every meal. He will start to eat and then walk away. So either I need to hold the plate of food or I need to hand feed him. Sometimes when he won't take it from my hand I have to actually put the food in his mouth. He actually lets me do it. I fed him after he had his leg removed, I saved his life by doing that. He is a good kitty and he tolerates me feeding him. So that is how I know when something is wrong with his mouth. I wish he would just stop the weird chewing. It started out of nowhere and I wish it would end like it started. One feeding he was fine and then the next feeding this weird thing started.
I haven't started the meds yet. Need to look up side effects.

Yes it looks familiar. Yoyo only does it when eating and for a few seconds and it stops. He does not do it when at rest or not eating. Does she still do that or was she treated?
No she only did that when she was eating either during or after she ate. This is why I thought it was a dental issue. Dr. Peak knew immediately, told me he has seen this many many times that it is not anything to do with Dental it is acid reflux. Then he advised me to discuss with her veterinarian- although I was able to read between the lines he saidthat half pill Pepcid 30 minutes before meal will work but I had to give it some time… A month or so. Nelli rarely, rarely displays this behavior anymore :bighug:

And the sound... Yes it sounded like she was grinding her teeth. What I thought, was that she had a bad tooth that she was trying to get out of her mouth? Does that sound familiar too?

Yoyo is so fortunate to have found a human who so carefully and diligently cares for him. I’m really impressed! You’re Awesome!

I hope Krystina is right and it’s just acid reflux. Fingers are crossed :)

Yes, he grinds his teeth and my vet also heard it yesterday too!

I hope Krystina is right also!! It is always so nice to hear from others and to learn from others' experiences.
It would be so great if acid reflux is the issue.
I hope Mowgli is doing good, I didn't have time before writing back to you to check his SS.

OKAY... I am now definitely with you when you question whether there it is a cracked tooth, TOO! If Yoyo is displaying what you see in video of Nelli- it’s definitely, I say this with confidence, acid reflux. Easily treated :).
Please keep in mind... however much we like and respect our vets they are not always right, too often trying to eliminate possibilities with unnecessary treatments along the way :woot:... :stop:. Educate yourself- I will help you as much as I can :bighug:.

Nelli Amylase value came back very high, on her last two labs. I asked Marji @Marje and Gracie because I like you (deep in back of my mind) though this might be related to the mouth antics- take a look at Nelli labs on SS... Amylase :woot:
I know Marji has here sister in town until Monday which means you might want to/have to wait for her response to this until next week

BTW, I don’t know if you know this but Margi is a Biologist, they one– they only, go to person when it comes to deciphering labs, drugs, etc.
Us again, so very blessed to have her :bighug:
