Yay Jupiter got a dose reduction! It was a rough night… It was raining and thundering outside so Jupiter was afraid. At first he was hiding in the couch so we were having a hard time testing and feeding. Eventually we coaxed him out – then instead he went to his other hiding spot in a really big box. That was a lot more convenient for us – and he likes to hide there so I think he felt safe there - we put his plate of food with him in the box and then he ate – what a relief.

Jupiter’s appy good this AM. He has been lounging around the house and is sleeping at the moment. I think hes just happy today that there is no thunder, at least none at the moment. It was a perfect time for me to go back to bed while Jupe is bouncing, but just couldn’t fall asleep.

Sending comforting vines to all the beans who kitties have recently crossed the bridge. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Jupiter is at his plate.... eating some LC food. wondering if tonight will be a repeat of last night and its looking like it will be. will retest at +2

Well, if that 246 this morning was his idea of a bounce, Jupiter sure got over it quickly. Could be an interesting night...

Is it okay to feed HC? hes at 55 and its really early on in the cycle so I am very worried

Go ahead and feed a teaspoon or two of HC. You're seeing action from a depot that hasn't had a chance t catch up with the dose reduction.

okay i didnt check the board earlier. i kind of started to panic and I fed him a whole bunch of HC... like he didnt eat most of it but licked a lot of the gravy off. Fed right after I took the +2....but now I tested at +2.5 and hes at 59.... this is making me so nervous I just really thought this would bring his numbers up much more then that...after i took +2.5 I fed him some more HC but he only took a few licks of the gravy

Your doing good,don't panic. I did this couple days ago nailbite_smile :lol: It will be ok keep testing,Im so happy for all the help on here.. :smile: Come on Jupiter reach for the sky

The thing is, I am okay with him having lower numbers because I know I am in control as long as I keep testing and feeding but the past 2 nights I panic. Last night because I couldnt get him to eat and tonight because the HC isnt bringing his numbers up very much

Thats what happen to me I kept giving Lucky HC and some honey and he kept going down I was up until 2am and the he started to rise by then to late for me to go to bed I would be up at 5am,looks like Lucky may do it to me tonight also, crap he is dropping,but had to take the shot. we may be up I will be here. good luck

Just breathe. Remember....test, feed 2 tsp gravy, wait 30 mins, test. Normally I wouldn't suggest HC gravy at 59 but it's early. Just keep doing the same thing until he is up.

You are likely seeing more action from the depot since he was low last night. If he goes below 50 tonight, you won't reduce because it's just depot, OK? Just do what you need to do to get his numbers up if he goes lower.

no need to panic. Lather, rinse, repeat and you'll be ok. Sometimes KK has one of those nights where the normal amount of HC doesn't do much. You could try giving more than you usually do. You can also try to abort the cycle by feeding enough HC to bump him up a lot. If you are still worried, you can add a drop or two of syrup to the food. You still have plenty of options left to maintain control.

Even if you do decide to carb him up, you'll still want to monitor for long enough to be sure he is up and staying up.

I seem to recall a couple of late nights back in April and early May when you didn't panic. You can do this. You've "been there, done that"!

Remember to let the food catch up to the meter. You might not see a rise in 15 minutes, but it'll show up eventually. Right now the HC and gravy is keeping up with the insulin. As the insulin tapers off, the food will win the battle.

Unfortunately I didnt have Danes help last night and wont tonight either. I am really tired from last night still. I am on a LOT of pain medicine the past few days which I think is making me panic a lot worse.

I did feed him much much more HC then normal because I was trying to get his numbers up.

+3 was 74.... next test is in 18 mins which will be +4...but I dont think he has eaten between +3 and +4

Even if he hasn't eaten, you might still see a higher number than 74. I'll watch for it.
 
He comes down everytime I dont feed HC in between. He did that last night too. I am so scared that I am going to fall asleep and then he will go too low. +4 was taken 10 mins late and hes at 62
 
and I also fed more HC.... I put a whole can of HC and he just licked some gravy off it then walked away.... he usually only wants the gravy part anyways

Is Jupe your only kitty? If you're worried about dozing, you can leave food out and let him eat. They seem to know when they're low and know food bumps them up.
 
Looking at his SS, while he does have a later than normal nadir at times, it looks like when he does hit greens, (most likely because you've fed the greens) his numbers don't drop after +6.
These numbers aren't really dropping though. He's been hovering in the 60s more or less. Not much difference between a 64, 55 and 74 really. And like you said, he usually drops a tiny bit when he doesn't eat between tests. But he's not "tanking" or anything. Also consider, he was only 107 to start the cycle. This isn't like his 100-200 point drops he had a couple of times on 2.75u.
 
No Jupe is not the only kitty. They all 3 of them share food. I fed Jupe a ton of gravy from some cans of HC. he loves the gravy.... I am going to try to carb him up so I can get a little sleep.... will test in 1 hr
 
Just peeked at your spreadsheet and saw the 91. Looks like the food showed up on the meter finally. :smile:
