Georgia and Simon (GA)

Member Since 2010
Just got back yesterday from a vacation with my mom, brother, sister and their families to the North Carolina mountains. It was so nice and cool there -- I even had to wear sweats at night!! Back to reality and 95 degree weather today.

DH did great with the testing and shooting (he didn't leave until later on in the week) but Simon was pretty high for him on all of those days, even getting up to a 177 which is unusual for him. Maybe he was missing his mama bean and was stressed. He is a mama's boy. I had a pet sitter stay with Simon once DH was able to come up to meet me and I had made the decision to not have her give inuslin since she is unable to test. When we got back last night, Simon was 122 and at +4 was 105. This morning he is 143, so I think he survived the no insulin pretty well.

He was so happy to see me after a week of being gone. He couldn't stop talking and purring the whole night. Right now he is begging to go outside and explore a little. All P's in place.

I missed reading condos while I was gone. Phone reception and internet reception is pretty non-existent in the mountains. I look forward to catching up today.

I noticed you're giving an anti-histamine. Is this for itchiness? If so, you might think about eliminating fish flavors. Some cats are allergic to fish. Fish and beef are the two foods many cats have trouble with.

Glad you're back!!

Sienne, Simon has been taking the anti-histimine for his ear allergies. Could fish allergies also cause just itchiness in his ears? Simon usually likes the chicken and turkey best so I'll try only feeding him meat for awhile and see what happens.

A little higher at the +2 and +3.

Welcome back! It sounds like you had a lovely vacation, and Simon seems to have done quite nicely without insulin for a few days. No doubt he is thrilled to have you home and all to himself, though!

Georgia, when I was reading up on asthma for Maverick, a number of articles said to stay away from fish - that it can increase the inflammatory response in cats. Or something like that. Sienne probably knows the technical reasons why and can explain it better.

This made my heart melt. What a sweet mamma's boy.

Welcome back! We have missed you. Your vacation sounds wonderful - I am so glad that you had a good time.

And Simon did well while you were gone. Good job Simon! It has to feel good to know you can be gone and things will be OK.

OK Simon... mama is home now... time to get back to those greens. You can do it!

Any break from this heat is a good thing! I'm glad you enjoyed your time in the mtns. That's the good thing about Atlanta - we're not too far from higher elevations and cooler temps! And of course Simon missed you! Have a good Sunday - stay cool!

Welcome home! I bet Simon had all kinds of things to talk about. Look at how great he did without insulin! I'm glad you enjoyed your vaca and that DH was able to join you for part of it.
