I have been worried about Blackie since last night. His numbers are good, but his appetite is way off. He only at 1/3 of his daytime food yesterday and I had to coax him to eat a small amount of his dinner. He did eat everything in the automat last night, but again this morning he didn't want breffis. I think he's eaten about half of his normal breffis and it took him more than 2 hours to eat it. I've tried adding chickie dust, salmon dust and even added some FF Salmon. I hope this turns around today.

WCR: Other than the above, Blackie seems fine. Doesn't stop me from worrying.

Blackie only ate about half of what I gave him (about 1 1/2 TB LC) at the +4. I don't know why he isn't his normal hungry self. Still worrying, especially because he's dropping.

maybe you can tempt Blackie with some catnip? I find with my civie, who sometimes has apetite issues, that usually gets him eating.
Hope Blackie is okay today and he doesn't drop too low. Sending good eating thoughts out.

Does the moon affect Blackie and his numbers?
Keep an eye out for any pukeys - hopefully none - but I do find the moon does a number on Luna and civvie Bast

It could be absolutely nothing -- he may just be off his food for a day. When was the last time you had a renal panel done for Blackie? If things don't improve, it may not hurt to get some blood work run to make sure nothing is going on.

I just gave him a TB of Special Diet Friskies Salmon (5% carbs) and he's eating it up. Maybe he's just tired of Wellness Turkey & Chicken. Of course I have 2+ cases in the pantry. :mrgreen:

His last renal panel was in March. If he's still like this on Monday, I'll make an appt.

could it be the heat? Mine don't eat as much when it's hot (neither do I). If he stops eating then you definitely need to worry, but it sounds like he's eating some, just not normally.

Come on Blackie, eat so your mom doesn't worry...

Ah variety! You didn't mention the Ps either. Tess tends to not eat as much when the poo P is missing.

Really nice numbers though.

I do feel better since he ate at +5. What worries me the most is that Blackie always has an appetite. The only time he wouldn't eat was when he was on Clavamox last year. And when he's dropping, he's ususally pestering me for food, but not today. But I know - he's a cat! And he isn't going to tell me what's going on.

Maybe Chef Stu's cooking & all the parties will perk him up.

Hope it nothing serious - just sounds like an off day... after a while mine get tired of the same food, maybe that is all it is since he ate the other. ?? I hear ya on the worry - Mannie always is a eater too, and i worry too when he doesn't.

Awesome numbers today for Blackie!

I hear from Mannie that Blackie is picking up Buzz for all these parties... if nothing else all those Chef Stu specialties should perk things up.

Love this, as it is so true, and the reason for our worry....

I fed Wellness exclusively for about 5 months (3 different flavors, but same brand). Eve and Cricket finally rebelled and wouldn't eat it anymore. That's when I started using FF and mixing it in. At first I did mostly FF and only a little Wellness but I gradually increased the ratio once they had their appetites back because I would rather feed Wellness. Anyway, a long-winded way of saying that he might indeed be tired of his food, but don't despair about the cases of food. If that's it, he may well go back once he's had some variety.

I don't blame you for worrying, especially with Blackie's constant good appetite. I've always said that's the day I will really worry, when Buzz won't eat. She has never turned down a meal, no matter how many times I have to feed the cycle. Oh, Sarah. Thank you for the quotes. I still get teared up about Cassie and I didn't even know her. You must still be hurting and I hope it gets better soon.

Blackie only ate enough food to get his Gabapentin and his shot. Then he jumped down and headed to the LB. He slept all afternoon with now LB visits, so I wasn't surprised that he had to go. He peed and pooed and the poo was a little runny. So I'm wondering what's going on. I'm going to try to feed him after he's finished drinking his water.

Hi Ele, Blackie may be a bit under the weather. Stu was, too, yesterday. We can't expect them to be feeling chipper all the time. I hope he perks up this evening. Maybe the full moon party will help.

Shadow gets that way....and with the low numbers I end up syringing gravy into his mouth. He has not been eating so much lately ~ and neither is Raja. I believe that they do get tired of the same food all the time. I mix Evo 95% with Wellness chicken. Lately I have been adding some FF too just to try to interest them in the same-old same-old. They don't seem to like the Wellness turkey so I have been buying the chicken only. I use Prime Bites on top and they still don't eat a lot of it.

I was wondering if it might be a hairball brewing if it isn't just a fluke that he is off his food.
That is a good sign that he ate a different brand.
That's something at least. Hope he starts being more enthusiastic. Well, the parties might distract him. :mrgreen:

Blackie ate about 1 Tb of food at +7 and then maybe 1/2 Tb of food at pmps. He just refuse Halo Liv a Littles, his all time favorite. nailbite_smile Do you think I should give some Pepcid?

Well I myself feel like it never hurts to give our cats pepcid but thats just me Ele we use it so much at our vet clinic for stomach upset :mrgreen:

My first clue that Gabby wasn'f feeling well was when she refused treats. This was followed by pukus and liquipoo. I don't think the Pepsid can hurt. I've been keeping FortiFlora in the house, as well. If you really think his stomach is off, try baby food.

I gave Blackie 2.5 mg Pepcid per felinecrf.org about 20 min ago. I just gave him some FF Chicken and he ate about 1/2 Tb before he refused it. Could be my imagination, but he just looks like he doesn't feel good.

Hope the pepcid helps I gave it to Do Lou yesterday and this morning as well since he had vomited yesterday just to make sure his tummy was settled thats the dose I use as well for him. I like Sienne also keep forti flora on hand here its great for them as well although Do Lou hates it but most cats seem to really like the stuff. Between trying different foods, syringe feeding and souping up food with a lot of water, Blackie has gotten between 3 & 4 Tb of food since pmps. It is usually closer to 6 to 7 by now, but he seems to be feeling slightly better now. When DH gave droolers & civies treats Blackie was interestd & ate a few Wellness treats. He also wanted to go outside, so that was a good sign. I'm going to get a ketone test as soon as I can just in case.
 
He did have great numbers today--If it persists, have it checked out, BUT gotta tell you'
My little vultures have been eating less since it got hotter here too--
I use FF & mix the flavors--am usually 1/2 plate beef, and 1/2 plate of turkey & gib.(or mixed grill)
pm 1/2 plate of beef(their old standard) and 1/2 plate beef & chicken
So they never really know what flavor I will be giving--It's kind of incentive surprise flavor feeding :lol: :lol: :lol:
So far, it is working, but they are definitely eating less-Hmmm, could be the full moon too... @-) -HUGS!!
Heard Blackie was really having a ball at the parties!!!!
