Wednesday evening, Phoenix's BG was 199 at +8. This was about normal for him. At +10 107, +11 75. This is also normal. However, I checked him again at + 11.5 and his BG was 28. Yes, 28, I did manage to get his BG back to 91 then dropped to 45 then up to 88.
At his AMPS, he was back down to 45, so with Bhooma and Wendy's advice, I skipped his a.m. injection. We lowered his p.m. injection to 9.5 units from his usual 10.25.
My dilemma was again last night at +8. His BG was 196. This is almost exactly the same number he was at +8 the night before when he dropped to 28. What to do, should I feed or not feed? I went ahead and fed him so my nerves could recover from the previous night. Now, I wish I hadn't fed him because he remained high. I was still surprised that his BG wasn't higher after dropping his dose so much. Tonight, I am going to wait and see if he drops again before feeding him.
It is funny that I remained calm and collected when his BG was 28. It was the rest of the day that I was a nervous wreck. Thanks again to everyone for your knowledge and help. Phoenix is doing great because of all of you.
