I had one of the best nights in a long time, sleeping wise that is. Dusty only woke me up 1 time for food last night.
This is a very unusual feat for him. I was hoping this was something new due to the lower BG.
I found out why at 5:40 a.m. His tummy must have been hurting because the sound of him throwing up woke me. He threw up some of his food.
I am back to where I believe that if he doesn't have a bowel movement every day that he's stopped up somewhere in the ole
intestines. I'm hoping that with some experience I can alleviate this problem.
After the awakening this morning, I cleaned everything up and softly rubbed his tummy for 10 minutes before my alarm went off. I can feel the poo.
It's not very soft....I don't know if the soft tummy rub did him any good or not, but he ate decently before I had to leave for work. Before he was fed,
I managed to get 1/8 tsp. of Mirilax down him. I'm not used to giving Dusty very many meds, so I tasted the stuff so I would be able to tell if Dusty was
going fight me on it and my taste buds didn't detect any taste. My first use of the Mirilax was 2 days ago. I mixed it with his food and he didn't eat much of it after that. So this time, knowing that even though I can't taste anything but have no idea if Dusty, I can went ahead and mixed it in 1/4 cup water and proceeded to get him to lick it from a syringe. Whoop Whoop !!
I'm still leary about how much to use with Dusty and I'm hoping, as suggested, this is a good starting point.
I also mixed 1 tsp of baby food squash and about 1/2 cup water in his food and he ate that too.
I've been using the baby food squash method for several days now. Not to worry, I refrigerate any opened jars and discard after 3 days. I still haven't found
my ice trays. I know they are packed away in the basement, just haven't come up on them in my search yet. So right now we are wasteful.
In the 2 hrs. it takes before I leave my house in the morning, Dusty still hadn't pooed. I worry about him not drinking enough since his BG is down.
I could tell that during the night he hadn't touched his water bowl. I know he gets water because I mix it in his food every time I put food down but I just
don't know if it's enough. His little body is having to go through so many changes.
I'm thankful that Dusty is willing to eat, praying for poo, but hoping I don't go home to a blow out.

Ya'll have a great day.

I hope you came home to some nice blues again and prezzies in the LB. Cats don't need to drink nearly as much water when their numbers are below the renal threshold like Dusty is now. But it is a good idea to keep adding water to food as you have been doing. You should see less pee clumps too in these numbers.
