Well, I am off to a wonky start!
Callie Mae was 290 this morning. She didn't get any insulin last night, and she hasn't been eating, really. I think she has even stopped using the litter box. I watched her go down the steps yesterday when she went outside and she went to the side of the house to do her business. She mulled around in the grass for about 2 minutes, then came back upstairs and sat in *her chair* and hung out on the balcony for about an hour before she started knocking on the window. And the box just doesn't look *busy* enough for 2 kitties. ;-)
Well, I may have to do more testing than I would like... ....but I shot her a whole unit and gave her a whole pouch of Albacore tuna for breakfast. She gobbled up the whole thing. Gotta get something going on with her.

Now Rocky.
This was actually +10.5 for him since he did receive insulin last night, just late because he was lulling around in the greens at pm shot time! I gave him .4 last night and I wasn't able to collect any data on that so I wonder if I should just stick with it and see how he does? .6 may have been to much. He was bouncing all over the place with that.

what'cha think.
I need to get on an earlier schedule by Monday morning. This late dosing schedule has me all messed up and Monday I need to leave for work at 6:45 and on Tuesday at 5:45.
Can I start dosing earlier and earlier to pull it back somehow? .....hope someone's here

Edit your topic to include dosing help and see if someone responds.

Yes, you can start dosing earlier. I think you are advised to drop by .1 for each hour early. I believe Robin is around if you want to pm her.

I think that 1 unit for Callie was good for this morning to get her back under control, but then back to microdosing.

Yesterday for Rocky was interesting and looks like the .6u was too much, I'm glad you went with the .4u, we'll see how that works for him.

You can start moving your shot time up a little with every shot, I think they say like a half hour a day or PS.

Can you get any spot checks in today?

What a great thing you are doing for Rocky.

Thanks, Robin.
I just shot .4, and I think I am going to go with a mini-curve, so to speak.
I wanted to check at +3, +6 and +9, or do you think 4, 7 and 10 would be better?

At least Rocky cleared the bounce fairly quickly. I would definitely make sure to do a mini curve on Callie today :-D

Wow, Rocky is like his own little fun-house roller coaster, isn't he? I was having second thoughts about the 0.4 when I saw last night's PS, but hey, nice +4 today, so I'd stick with the plan. Looks like someone doesn't want to be on insulin all that badly, yay!

On Callie I'm glad you upped the dose, I think it's going to be shot by shot decisions with her, which is good really, you don't want her doing on the BID plan particularly. I'm glad she ate (sounds like she was holding out for the Albacore delight ohmygod_smile ). Do you know why her eating was off? Is it Rocky stress, or something else? I wonder if you might want to put out a 2nd litter box? Maybe she's just not into sharing her private space with the f*ing new guy (her words, not mine!)?

Sounds exactly like her!

I believe it is just Rocky stress. She seems like herself, just kinda~~meh~~~.
And she is the most gracious host. Rocky has to give her a growl or a hiss every time he walks past her, but she never hisses back. He never looks directly AT her, just walking past, he has to say SOMETHING!

Think I will try the second litter box. Don't know why I didn't think of that. ohmygod_smile

Since I want to shoot him earlier, by 30 minutes, should I reduce his dose to .3, or is it safe to just continue the .4? He doesn't appear to drop to threatening numbers on that dose, but I don't know how insulin works when you inject before shot time.

An early shot = a dose increase but as you said he isn't dropping to dangerous lows so I think I would stay with the .4u and see if he does a little better this time.

I wouldn't drop it for 30 minutes early. Even an hour early unless it's an amazingly good PS they often don't need a reduction. Earlier than an hour I would reduce though, and I used to reduce Bix's dose on a +11 shot b/c he got excellent duration, better than many cats.
