Feeling a little cranky about having to recreate today's condo. I had pasted it into a Word document because I just knew the forum was going to be wonky, but then I closed the doc without saving once the condo posted....totally did not expect to lose the last 24 hours. Grrr.

I'll have to go with the short version tonight:

Trix had a very nice drop sans insulin this morning....Mr P likes to be fed!

I have managed to get Trix's morning and evening gelcaps down her in 2 and 3 attempts respectively. I don't know why I have had a few fiascos like yesterday.....

Trix has been eating very well these last several days. I'm starting to try weaning her off syringe feedings. This morning, she ate enough with her initial round of plated food that I skipped her early syringe. However, at the last minute, I decided to do her pre-work syringe before I left, just to be sure she had the calories. So far, I have not done any syringes tonight. She still needs/wants me to hold the plate, but overall, she is it more and better with each serving, so hopefully she'll eventually remember she likes to eat independently. I still MIGHT do a syringe tonight, but we'll see how she eats as the evening progresses.

Petey is eating better today, too. I feel like he's not quite 100%, but he's doing better for sure. He seems a little quirkier than usual to me.

To quickly answer a couple questions from yesterdays condo:

@Elise - I don't know what causes Petey's occasional bouts with inappetence. I have him and his two littermate brothers, and they all have digestive/food sensitivities. Things that other kitties wouldn't bat an eye at set my guys off. It's been a lifelong battle with them. It has taken many years, but we finally have them pretty stable with their diet and no meds. It's not what I consider to be the highest quality food, but it works for them. Foods that most consider high quality just run straight through them. With all that, though, you would never guess they have these sensitivities if you met them...they are shiny, bright, soft, happy, energetic and even a little chubby.

@Tricia - Yes, I do use (vegan) butter on Trix's gelcaps. I've noticed this last batch is a little odd, though. It was in the freezer a while and I wonder if that affected the quality...it turns to oil almost immediately and I think that may be making the gelcap sticky. When I go food shopping tomorrow, I'm going to buy some fresh vegan butter just for Trix's gelcaps!

We haven't tried Science Diet Sensitive Stomach for "the triplets" (Noah, Petey, Zen), but last year they were on Science Diet Hairball. It initially sovled many of their issues, as much as I hated the thought of Science Diet. But, suddenly Petey started to refuse eating it. Then, I looked at the bag and saw the teeny tiny "new formula" triangle on the bag. They added in all the stuff that doesn't agree with my guys....cranberries, blueberries, and all that other fancy stuff. They do much better if I avoid those ingredients, but it is getting harder and harder to find food without them.

I've got some work to do...have a great evening, LL!
